Results from the Dorton Ladycat Tournament
#1
In the 5th place game, Pikeville defeated Johns Creek.

In the 3rd place game, Dorton defeated Elkhorn.

In the Championship, Martin defeated Herald Whitaker in a great game to watch.

I left the information with the names on it at school accidentally, but I will post what I remember.

The All-Tournament included:

Blackburn from Johns Creek
Rachel Potter from Pikeville
Rachel Smith from Pikeville
Tabitha Potter from Elkhorn
Breanna Fraley from Elkhorn
Courtney Wright from Dorton
Leeza Mullins from Dorton
Arnett from Herald Whitaker
Burkett from Martin County
Katelyn Newsome from Martin County
#1 from Herald Whitaker
#32 from Herald Whitaker

MVP: Candice Porter from Martin

I will post the All-Sportsmanship team tomorrow.

I would like to thank all coaches, players, and fans who attended and helped make the tournament a success.

We will also be having a boys' tournament with the same format in November if any teams are interested.

Thanks for the kind words. There were some great games the last couple of nights. Several of the teams that competed have a chance to have championship seasons in their respective leagues. Thanks again coach for coming over 3 nights this week. I know it a long trip for both you and Herald Whitaker.

Well, a man can forget can't he? The principal had the list and I forgot to get it off of him. I guess instead of teaching history all day I could have chased the principal down and got the list. After all, I am the one who came up with the idea of giving out sportsmanship trophies so I must think it is pretty important. I just wanted to make sure I didn't post the wrong names. What were the flames for at the end of your post? Did you burn me or something?

The ones I know are:

Nikesha Potter - Dorton
Amber Sexton - Pikeville
Paige Hammonds - Martin
Tina Rowe - Elkhorn

I will post Herald Whitaker, Mullins, Belfry, and Johns Creek when I get the list.

Believe me Randy does not mean to skip anyone. Not to be smart but these girls were applauded that night. He will post as soon as school is back in session.

Thanks,

I think that sometimes by concentrating so much on stats, we send the wrong message that the most important thing is how the kids play. Even though we don't mean to, I think kids forget that sportsmanship is the most important thing. To me, the only thing worse than a sore loser is a sore winner.
