:o You can get a little sample of the new upcoming Windows release called longhorn. You have two options. You can download a beta copy off the internet (which is very buggy and still has memory leaks)
......or you can download the transformation kit. I recommend the LH9 transformation kits. It gives you most the features that Longhorn will offer and you can easily remove it you get tired of it. I doubt you will.
It comes with so many differnt skin packs.. Allowing you to basically customize your windows to any liking and colors.. I prefer the black layout.. Here taka look.
BTW.. These will change your windows were it actually looks and performs like longhorn. It will change you boot screens and all. Like I said its easily removeable if you get tired of it. Ill post the links to the Longhorn Transformation 9 package. You must have windows 2000, XP, or 2003 to run the update.
Here are the links.. One is for the LH9 and the other is for the sidebar editor.

I got it downloaded and installed but I cannot get my start bar to update.
04-26-2005, 11:21 PM
i havent downloaded it cause i have to use a friend's computer since mine went AWOL. but is it worth it?
04-27-2005, 03:14 PM
My friend transformed his and it looks great. But, I couldn't get mine to fully transform and in the process of cleaning my computer up, I ended up wiping my hard drive. Now this would normally not be a problem but my backup disks are not working.

I tried downloading this also, but I think my computer is a little outdated for this software. It currently has XP on it, but it was originally windows 98 before I upgraded to XP per CD Rom. It let's me go through setting it up until it actually tries to install it and it says cannot find file system32/taskkiller.exe. So I guess I'm SOL.

BCF4L - search for a file named tskill.exe
Copy it, then rename it taskkill.exe and copy it to c:/windows/system32

i am thinking about doing this but my computer runs really slow right now and i just redid it again and put windows xp back on it. now i have a problem, it says that i have to register windows but it wouldnt accept the COE code that i put it. it is my friends disc that came with his new gateway so maybe that is why that it wont work but i dont know, if i dont do something soon i wont have windows unless i yet again wipe everything out and put it all back on here because it wont work to activate it. someone help me!

Ya install it in safe mode blackcat.. You system files are loaded into the memory in windows mode..and cant be updated.
04-27-2005, 05:25 PM
Ok I'll give that a shot. Will it be able to find the taskkill file though? I didn't think safe mode would have anything to do with that.

OK QQ, I got it working now, but it won't let me put skins on my task bar on the side panel. It's not recognizing the files because they are sbk files. Anything I can do there?

Download the sidebar.. THen run it.
It will tell you that the side bar is installed. Choose to uninstall it.
Run the sidebar program once again. But this time choose to install.
Once it finishes.. Go to display properties choose a new appearance.
Hit F5 to refresh screen. Now you task bar will be available for every appearance mode..

You need a corporate copy of XP. Corporate copies do not require activation. Since I work on computers for a living its a must for me to have corporate copies of software. And since you own the licenses to XP you are entitled to a corp copy. I would be more than happy to burn you a corporate copy of XP..and mail it to you.
As an alternative you can patch the version you got. The patch will disable the trial period countdown in standard versions not registered.
PM me for details on how to patch..
BTW, For legal reasons you must tell me you do own the licenses key..

Reizvoll is supposed to bring me another copy of a Windows XP disc that would actually work. Thanks though, but I think I can fix it that way.
