Problems with InterMountain Cable
#1
I was just wanting some feedback from anyone else who gets high-speed internet through InterMountain Cable. I just recently signed on with them after I moved out of an area where I had DSL, and I have been very disappointed to say the least.

Their service has been very slow, taking up to 10-15 minutes for some pages to load. This is worse than I remember dial-up being. Most times I can't even get BlueGrassRivals to pull up at all, so I have to get my BGR fix on a family member's computer at their house.

I know it's not always this bad, my service was perfectly fine the first night I tried it, but has been poor ever since.

I was planning on calling them tomorrow to see if they can come out and take a look at it, but I was wondering if anyone else has had problems with them?

We had it for about a week. I thought it was so very slow after having DSL. They dont tell you they put a cap on how much you can upload or download at cable speeds. After you go over that cap, you are about half as fast as general dial up. When we tried it, they had a 30 day trial period or something like that, took it back, all was well after the DSL was installed at the new place.

I have the lowest speed (i think) and I have no problems at all. My pages load as soon as I click on something. We had problems for about a week before, but someone was stealing our connection or something. If you have wireless internet you might want to make sure no one is using it, like a neighbor. We had to lock ours

I have the lowest speed too, but it's supposed to be the same speed as my DSL connection used to be, and it's nowhere near.

I hadn't thouight about anyone stealing my signal. I don't use any wireless connections in my house, only one computer and it's wired in. How close do neighbors have to be to steal signal?

Not sure. We didn't use the wireless but we had it. And our neighbors would log on using our wireless connection. But we called and got assistance and they explained to us how to lock it. Now the only time I have problems with it is near 3 AM

More Cowbell, I had the same problem. Switched from DSL to Dial-Up through Mikrotec and it sucked to say the least. I then was told by Blackcat Student about a Broadband Card I believed they are called through your cell phone provider, mine being Appalachian Wireless. Acts like a Cell Phone signal. Helps alot, really enjoy it, not same as DSL but best you can do.

That's the thing, this isn't dial-up, it's cable internet that's supposed to be 256K, same speed as my DSL. And it's not.

Very aggravating.
