Truly a great way to end the season last night. Game really started out ugly which is more up Houston's alley.
Walter Clayton Jr. didn't have his best game for the Gators, but he is a great player, and the great ones always find a way, and he really got it going when his team needed him the most.
I guess much can't be said about the SEC now, everyone talked about how tough the league was all season, and now it ends with an SEC team winning it all.
Have to feel for Houston, as great as it was seeing them make that epic comeback against Duke on Saturday, the shoe was on the other foot for them last night as they blew a 12 point lead. Never been a big Kelvin Sampson fan, but no denying he is a great coach, and came so close to capturing his first championship. His team really plays to his mentality, never quit & never give up but just came up short tonight, didn't make enough plays down the stretch.
As for Florida, have to give them all the credit in the world. With Clayton not playing his best game until late, they still found a way to just hang around, and made enough plays to eventually get the lead and the win. How about for a team that is elite offensively, they won the championship with back-to-back defensive stops, pretty cool if you ask me. Florida coach Todd Golden becomes the youngest to win a National Championship since Jim Valvano, who also defeated Houston in 1983.
Congrats to the Florida Gators, National Champions.

Wow!! What a game!! Fitting that a game like that ended the tournament.
I've never seen a more competitive bunch of games. Guess I'll go into withdrawal now until football season.

Definitely a BYD game, especially at the end. No one was mistaking this for a game where either team could get away with playing players who weren't extremely physical.
Thought Houston had a chance to get some distance late in the first half but then they fell into playing Florida's pace.
Understand why they did it, but thought there was a point in the 2nd half where the refs started calling a lot, which was pretty inconsistent with how everything else was called the rest of the night. Don't know that it really benefitted either team (especially given Florida's two techs), but it seemed like the refs felt they'd either lost or were about to lose control. Glad to see them loosen back up from there and let the players decide it.
Really good watch-- thought it was one of the better championship games in recent memory.

I don't consider baseball a sport.
I know. I'm a bitch.
