Final. GRC led 55-45 with 6:33 to play. Montgomery ends on 14-1 run. Reed's banked 3 as time expired.
Different school now but Jason Mays’ teams have never lost a regional championship game. He is now 5-0. Not that it means all that much but it does mean that he’s been there before and the moment was not going to overwhelm him or his team.
Coach Mays performed quite the turnaround in just two seasons. The Indians were 11-18 in Mays first season last year that ended with a 73-47 loss in the opening round of the 40th district to GRC now being 22-10 and to Rupp Arena.

Thankfully Mays paid that electric bill.
Can you call it a turnaround when 4 of his top 6 are from elsewhere?

That can be said with a straight face do we need to talk about how many players have played and are playing at GRC as you say from elsewhere. Like a pretty good player from Paris. lol

It’s a typical JM routine. Recruits from other schools. 4 or 5 of his top player he recruited. Paid electric bills and rent to kids. He epitomizes what is wrong with high school basketball. Acts like he can develop kids but he just recruits other coaches work. He is mediocre at best as a coach. I will same the same for GRC. The only thing that would have been great if both JM and JC would have lost tonight!

S16 appearance:
Ashland - 3
Mays - 1
Boyd- 0 with best player being recruited from so called Huntington Prep LOL
Mays in game adjustment shouldn't go unnoticed. In the 4th quarter this should show everyone this man can flat out coach. GRC goes to a zone defense and takes the lead and goes up 10 midway through the 4th. MOCO goes on a 14-1 run to seal the deal. Congratulations!!!!!!

APB has never won with Ashland kids in the past 4 since or even before exposure of APB and Mays. Even this year you have Neel on video with APB coach in Russell. So, KY JELLY APB couldn't beat Fairview with just the actual APB kids who actually live in Ashland. You don't start a kid from APB and first guy off the bench. This is why Buddy Biggs put Bonner and the rest of the staff on blast. You all are the laughingstock of the state and JM is the biggest clown of them all. NO ONE respects JM or APB. It really makes one wonder what short fall of being a man to have to recruit to win HIGH SCHOOL games. LOL
KY just fyi Spur is the best kid in the region and one of the best players in the state. If it wasn't for a dirty play during the region game. BC would be headed to Rupp not the TriState Tomcats. Now what should be noticed his that MOCO players will least get their bills paid for one more month.. Electric and rent etc...Happy for those kids and their families to let JM break every rule in the KHSAA bylaw to ensure his recruits are getting their NIL...LOL

Regardless of head coaching reputations and win at all costs mentalities, it was a great game and hell of a comeback by Montgomery.
Video of the kid hitting the game winner has went viral, several different views of it, how about that to bank in a game winner to go to Rupp.

There were no players on either team that would intentionally hurt one another. They are mostly friends off the court. It is the adults like you that cause the division. That’s why Jesse had you removed from the bench.(7 hours ago)Ky1976 Wrote:(Yesterday, 10:20 PM)TribeTime Wrote: Thankfully Mays paid that electric bill.Everyone wants to throw stones (HOOPFAN) but nobody seems to see the glass house they live in!!!

Carter is the best player in the region and arguably the state. His accolades and the record books prove it. You sound stupid just stop.
As for the MOCO comments, you are just speculating because your recording didn’t end Jason Mays success. I am glad the Reed kid is getting this opportunity to play at Rupp after everything he has been through. Get over yourself and all you wisdom. Lol

I'm just guessing that 13 out of the 16 teams, maybe more, that will make up this years Sweet Sixteen will have rosters with kids not from their school district.
Welcome to 2025!

What Hoopfan never acknowledges is the first year that Mays coached at Ashland he inherited the team that was left from the previous coach and still won the region.
And this recruiting talk is not always recruiting. Many parents all over Kentucky want their kids in the best place to succeed. Some move their children for academics, some for athletics, some for both.
And from what I’m hearing there is a very strong possibility that the KHSAA will be enacting a “One Time Transfer” policy at the fall 2025 meeting. The state legislature was going to propose a bill for just that but I heard the KHSAA people told them there was no need that they would take care of it on their end. Indiana just did the same. It will make for a lot less work and headaches for the KHSAA imo.
