Final from Austin. Texas tried to give this one away a few times in the extra frame but did enough to hold on. That's a huge boost to the Horns NCAA Tournament chances and a loss that probably drops Mississippi State a seed line for the time being.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a team as clueless as how to attack a press as Texas was last night, it was pathetic really. But I do love watching Tre Johnson play.

You know Rodney Terry is accomplished to be in his seat but he has more Rick Barnes traits than Chris Beard traits.
Texas also has a lot of in-state kids who are great athletes but fell into basketball after football. The really good high school teams also have great coaching, but there are also plenty of places that have tons of talent, not the best coaching, and programs funded on par with track & weight lifting (read: football conditioning) and baseball.
Sometimes the lack of growing up in and around the programs and knowing what's expected of you and how to execute really shows with them.
The best of the best are just on another level though. Saw Ron Holland's Duncanville team and they were unreal-- easily the best high school team I've seen (including Findlay Prep, Huntington Prep, etc.). People throw around "small college team" a lot, but they were as talented as plenty of bad Power 5 teams and could have beaten them if you took away the age and physicality. Watched them hold a team that was ranked in the top 25 in a handful of national polls to 4 second half points in a state semifinal. That one stands out as the worst I've seen one really good team beat another. They were getting screwed on calls but were so talented that the refs still couldn't take it from them, so they just played pissed off.

Texas had been floating around on the bubble, I agree this this win definitely helped their chances of getting in now.
As for Mississippi St, they'll get in but they kind of remind you of Kentucky, great offensively but struggle on the defensive end.
