I was thinking earlier about how I would like to see Kentucky close out their season. I mean, short of making a deep run in the NCAAT, which I think most of us would agree is pretty unlikely, what would you be happy seeing the Cats do to finish off this season? For me, if they could win their remaining two regular season games(won't be easy winning at Mizzou), then win a couple games in the SECT, and two in the NCAAT, I think most Cat fans should be pretty pleased with this group. Mind you, winning 2 and 2 and 2 is a pretty tall order. Quite challenging, I think, but also not terribly unrealistic. That means they would finish 25-12 on the season, above .500 in the strongest conference in America and have four postseason wins to their credit. Pretty darn good season. We just had way too many injuries to key personnel and lost too many games to inferior competition. This season probably go down in the minds of most UK fans as a very fun season and an enjoyable team to watch, but a season of "what might have been."
What about you? I'd like to hear what you would be satisfied with from here on out for this team. How many wins dio they need and how far do they need to advance in postseason play for you to be satisfied with the way they closed out the season? Are you on board with my 2 + 2+ 2 plan ???

You know, this is an interesting take, and I think I would take it for sure. We will be favored over LSU and in our first NCAA game, otherwise we may not be favored again this season. If we wind up as a nine seed in the SEC we would be favored over South Carolina in the 9/16 game. But then we would have a tossup game with probably Miss. St. or Vandy. If we wind up 8th we get a tossup game. Either way, if you win the next game in your path is Auburn. Ouch.
I think now we are looking at a four seed at best, maybe even a five, which means we will be favored in our NCAA opener, maybe not in the round of 32 if the seeds hold up. And as a four or five, you would get the one seed in your region in the round of 16 barring upsets before then. Of course if you’ve made it that far, you start dreaming about an unexpected run, which I think most of us would be doing if we get that far.

I think it's important that Pope win his first NCAA Tournament game. Winning at least one gives him a huge psychological edge going into future seasons, and takes away ammo from opposing coaches who try to engage in negative recruiting or fans who want think he isn't doing enough.
I don't think there's such a thing as a disappointing season from here on unless we're just blown out in all of our remaining contests, which I don't see happening.
The Auburn team that beat us yesterday is locked in as one of the most solid tournament favorites that I've seen in awhile, so we shouldn't get too down about that game alone.

I agree with one of the pundits who said UK's season is a big success if they make it to the second weekend of the big dance.
Robinson out for good has killed about half of the excitement for me going forward.

You don't agree with me that Mayfield is the best program in KY HS football history?

Jet, I agree on the Robinson end. It really did take some of the wind out of my sails as far as excitement for the postseason. Still hoping we can win a couple games in the Dance. Regardless, wins over Duke, Gonzaga, Florida, and Tennessee twice has made it a successful season , as far as I'm concerned . However, 2+2+2 would take my joy up another notch.

I thought before the season, if they could win 20 games and make the big dance it would be a successful year, I still believe that.

A little bit of a different way of asking the question might make for some different answers. If you were told you could have 2+2+2 but they would definitely be eliminated in their third game of the NCAAT, would you be okay with that? You can take that deal or take door number two, which might have Final Four behind it or it might have losing every remaining game. What do you do?

Normally, I would always say let it play out. But with our health situation, and with the fact that I think we are looking at 1+1+1 going forward (I think we beat LSU, lose at Missouri, win our SEC opener, then lose game two, win our NCAA opener then lose in the round of 32) yeah I’d take it in a heartbeat. One request to the basketball genie though—-don’t let Duke be the team that beats us in the round of 16.

That "pundit" was me! And I agree with you about Robinson. I'm sick over that!

SEC Tournament = play on Friday
NCAA Tournament = Play in Round of 32 game.
NCAA Tournament = Play in Round of 32 game.
