Prestonsburg vs. Betsy Layne: 58th District Championship 2/27
#1
Blackcats vs. Bobcats for the 14th time in the history of this long-standing district tournament.

Throws records, regular season results out the window, hell throw what happened the other night out the window.

Anything can happen this time of year.

What's everyone's thoughts & predictions on this one.

My only prediction is that it’s going to be an absolutely wild, raucous environment to watch a basketball game up there. I have no idea how this game is going to go, but I can’t wait to watch it! Hail Blackcats!!!

I’ve said it all year: Lawrence was the team I felt like Prestonsburg had the best chance at beating in the district and Betsy Layne the worst. I don’t like the matchups BL presents Pburg as they’re quick, long and physical. Having said that, I’m not sure we’ve seen a fully engaged Prestonsburg team all year until the last couple of weeks. Anything can happen but I expect BL to cut down the nets. Hope I’m wrong.

Betsy Layne by 10+.

I think Betsy Layne wins by double digits, but the flow of the game will be determined by if Parsons and Keathley stay out of foul trouble. Should be a fun one at BL tonight!

This game kind of puts me in mind of Pburg-FC girls just the other night.

BL comes into this one on their home court, coach of the year and a lot of pressure to win a district championship, something they haven't done since 2022.

Pburg comes into this one riding a big wave momentum after the win over Lawrence, and just like that game they're basically playing with house money here, no pressure with nothing to lose, and that could be beneficial to Pburg.

Obviously comes down to how well Keathley plays within the team, he is obviously going to get his, but they sure need their role players to step up like they did the other night, I've been really impressed with the Shutts kid all season, only an 8th grader but he has shown tremendous potential, and played a great game the other night.

Idk if I'll get this one prediction right, but I am going with another upset, gimme Prestonsburg over Betsy Layne to win it all.

Give me Pburg in the upset 55-52
Keathley might have a 30 and 30 game

I think BL shooters get loose early and BL takes this one by 6.

BL-72
Pburg- 66

I hope Keathley can lead the Blackcats to an upset! What a story! But, ultimately I think the firing power of the Bobcats will be too much for them. Love seeing an underdog on top though.

Any thing can happen, and I am hoping for a Blackcat win, but as others have said, I just don't think we match up that well with the Bobcats. I feel like their guards are too quick and they have multiple shooters on the floor at all times. Allen has to get out of his slump in order for Prestonsburg to win this game. I'm not saying he needs to score 20+ points, but a 8-12 point game is needed. Keathley is going to get his, but I feel like Shutts and Slone are overmatched. Napier has played well against Betsy Layne this year and I don't expect anything different tonight. It's going to be a great atmosphere, and if things fall into place, Prestonsburg has a chance! Hail Blackcats!
