Blackcats mimic the Lady Blackcats as both finished the regular season 0-6 in district play and enter the district tourney as the 4 seed and knock off the 1 seed.
Huge win for the the win and head coach, Harold Tackett who had a brilliant game plan and it worked great.
Braxton Keathley played his best game as a Blackcat tonight. Made some great passes, he was patient, rebounded like a monster, and when it come time to take the game over that's exactly what he done. He finished with 33 points and 25 rebounds. Napier was a beast in the post with a double-double and Graham Shutts had 17. Best game the Cats have played all season, by far. These boys can win a district championship.
Hail Blackcats!!!

Again, Prestonsburg has the talent and size to compete against anyone. What you’re starting to see these past two weeks is a team that’s moving the ball extremely well, finding each other and not settling for bad shots. Kids are accepting their roles and doing what needs to happen to win games. Braxton was incredible tonight and has been the last two weeks. He’s still getting 30-40 on less shot attempts because they’re easier shots with ball movement and reversal. I thought the lineup Harold started tonight was the reason we were as competitive as we were. It was a bigger lineup for Prestonsburg which helped secure rebounds. That has been an issue against Lawrence this year for us.
The gameplan was masterful, Braxton was incredible, Shutts and Napier made some big shots, Waller and Nairn played great, Allen can’t hit a fat bull in the rear right now and focused solely on defense and finding open teammates. Tonight was a true team effort. I’m proud to be a blackcat tonight.
And I wanna say something: whomever number 3 is on Lawrence…I feel awful for him. His dad (I’m assuming) yelled at him all night from the stands. Telling him he’s just standing and watching, go do something, etc. I felt like the kid was miserable. I felt terrible for the kid. He’s a great player and don’t need the added stress from families screaming instruction from the bleachers. My two cents.

Lawrence didn’t play their best game for sure! However 14 walked every time and nothing was called. Those refs were horrible! Lawrence was fouled numerous times and no calls. Regardless what happened a win is a win even if it took the refs to get it done! Also every parent coaches from the stand so don’t go pointing fingers at stuff you know nothing about.

This game was a battle! Very physical game, glad to see our boys compete like that. GRAHAM SCHUTTS!!! My goodness, What a game from the 8th grader! This game came down to heart, and we poured ours out on the floor tonight. Very proud of those boys. We made a focused effort to play the game in the paint instead of settling for bad shots on the perimeter and it worked out!

Happy for Coach Tackett. This team has been a fart in the wind all year never knowing which direction they were flowing but tonight they were awesome to watch. Ball was flowing Ont he offense and the kids just wanted to win and you could see it.
If you need any assistance or want to report a problem feel free to PM me and we will get it taken care of! Thank you for choosing to be apart of the BGR community!

I was rooting hard for Pburg in this game. It was great to see them get the win.

Know nothing about? I literally sat in front of the dude and he never stopped yelling at his son the whole night. Parents typically encourage during the game but not blatantly yell at their kids to do better. That parent needs to do better because you can clearly see it bothers the kid.

Wow. How about them Blackcats!!

Was he the one that was thrown out? I know someone in the crowd was tossed in the game, he looked a bit angry.

Very impressed with the Blackcats tonight. Keathley was a monster. The 8th grader has a great looking shot and Napier battled hard. If all of the team gets involved the rest of the way, they will be a tough out.

Hopefully Allen can get going in the championship game. It’ll be bad news for Bl with him hitting it’ll opened the floor up for Keathley to make plays like he does. Pulling for the Blackcats in the championship!

How bout those Blackcats! #11 has came out of nowhere with great defense. .#44 played really smart basketball and rebounded well Allen with 6 assists Napier with a double double #3 with 17 points and Keathley with a double doable. Harold Tackett coached a hell of a game!

I'd never seen so many Bobcats cheering for Prestonsburg as I did last night, nice win for the Blackcats and happy for Coach Tackett. On the other hand, Lawrence Co just did not want it as bad as Prestonsburg and it showed. I do believe LC could take advantage of the super region and make a nice run when its all said and done.

Its alllllllways the refs fault
you got beat. good luck in the super regional

As the old adage goes, tough to beat a team 3 times in a season, and that anything can happen at this time of year.
I think a lot of people outside Pburg, and maybe even a few within Pburg thought this would be over in a hurry, but that's why they play the game.
Congrats to Prestonsburg, moving onto the district championship.

It was not. The gentleman I’m referring to sat on the Prestonsburg side.
