Started last night and had 2 great games.
Defending champion Prestonsburg, just like last season entered as the 4 seed in the tournament, upset 1 seed Floyd Central last night 61-55. Pburg was up by 17 at half and by as many as 20 in the 3rd, FC chipped away, got as close as 6 points but couldn't get over the hump. Lady Black cats will have a chance to defend their district championship tomorrow night.
They will play Lawrence Co, the 2 seed who defeated 3 seed Betsy Layne by 2 points. BL had a 10-point lead in the 2nd qtr but the great play of Sophie Adkins changed that as they went on a 10-0 run, going into halftime tied. It was back & forth after that, came down to the last possession as BL tried to get a shot off with 4 seconds left but came up short.
Sure was a great first night of post season basketball, and it's shaping up to be a great championship Wednesday night!
