Seen another thread similar, but this one is just for high school. Exclude all college and now NBA contributions. Just as a high school player, I think it goes… 

1. Trent Noah (averaged 30/10, all the way to the final game, 48 and 10 in the elite 8!! Multiple sweet 16 records, multiple 40 pt postseason performances, people will forget how amazing of a defender he was protecting the rim. The arby’s classic hosts who have seen multiple NBA players play in it have said that he may be the most gifted scorer at a high school level they ever seen in the 30 year tourney)
2. Reed Sheppard (no explanation, but he never won a game as a jaguar in rupp arena, went 5-20 against pikeville so it’s hard to put him over someone who pulled off so many miracles, he’s going to be the one of if not the most decorated 13th region player ever AFTER HS. I have no hatred for him at all he’s one of my favorite players ever, but assists/steals stats done by his mother can be a little over exaggerated plus 85% of teams don’t track that now at all. I did watch him get a quadruple double in person and i can say that was legit.) 
3. Andrew Taylor (Going back and looking at stats is impossible now cause there’s glitches, but he was a certified bucket for 4 years that I know of. Can’t imagine there’s many guys that scored easier and more than taylor) 
4. Walt Allen (you know how impressive it is winning mr basketball averaging 15 points. He did it on both ends. State Champ.)

Peyton Broughton completely slipped my mind, another bucket. I would put Javonte Turner above Jordan Akal.

Peyton and Ty were just pretty much scorers.  I liked Trent, but Reed was the total package, everything you could ask from a HS player.  Reed could have put up huge numbers if he had been asked too.

Maddox Huff is probably as good or better than any of the players named so far so don’t forget about him! Maddox and Trent are clearly the best shooters of the bunch and Maddox might have the purest shot all of them. I think He will be a great player for ETSU….

It appears NL is going to have a long dry spell from Reed to anyone that can out action him, just seems that way.
At that school anyway. Speaking of some good ones around over the years, go back a little further. Lily high
school in Laurel County they tell me had one HECK of a player back in the 60's, Doug McIntosh, played at UCLA.
Might want to look up a Bio on him, interesting read. Now days: the stellar players, Reed, Broughton, Noah,
the Mabe kid at South Laurel has impressed me as well, interested to see where he lands as a college player.

Maddox Huff is probably as good or better than any of the players named so far so don’t forget about him! Maddox and Trent are clearly the best shooters of the bunch and Maddox might have the purest shot all of them. I think He will be a great player for ETSU….

Yeah, kids like Reed don't come along every day.  At least, his cousin is keeping NL very competitive.

Andrew Taylor finished his career ranked #3 scorer all-time in KY HS. The three game suspension his senior year cost him one spot in those rankings. He would have finished above Osborne had he played those three games. He finished just !9 points behind #2(at the time, that was Charlie Osborne). More importantly to Old School, Taylor was the only person in about a half century of watching Redhound basketball to come up and personally thank me for attending his games and rooting on his team.

These type of threads are always funny to me. Constant contradiction to fit agendas.

One player’s college commitment is downplayed by the same people who bring up name’s of players who went to lesser or equal schools. King University, EKU, and Furman commits get mentioned as being among the best…but there is a reason why Huff is going to ETSU?

With that being said, Reed and Trent are clear tier 1 guys. They are the only guys in tier 1. The rest can be discussed, but biases and double-standards keep these discussions pointless.

4 quarters…what is that reason? Like to know your expert analysis and tell us how easy it is for kids to play college basketball at schools like ETSU.

I believe you couldn’t watch much college basketball or know how the landscape has changed for high school kids. With the transfer portal it’s hard for HS kids to get a division 1 scholarship opportunity. Plus the talent is crazy at all levels. Only the best get the D1 opportunities. 

Is there anyone else going D1 from the 13th region this year? Rather, Go back the last 10 years. How many??

Andrew Taylor was a professional scorer in the 13th. I watched him play a lot at marshall and he still scored a lot but turned into a great passer. I like the trent, reed and andrew being the big three in the last 20 years. Walt allen was great but he doesn’t fall in the category with those first 3.

Mabe had several D1 offers this year per several in London and Corbin including the walk on opportunity from UK early in the year but decided on Huntsville for the degree opportunity. Etsu or wherever it’s a free education that typically is worth up to $150k over the life of the opportunity. Congrats to all the kids, it’s a very small club at any level

IJ, I fully understand the college game of yesterday and today, who knows what the future brings.  It's great for any kid to get a free education.

ETSU is a D1 school, just don't tell me Huff is a better HS player than Shepherd.  Shepherd could have went to about any school in the country, I don't think Huff had that opportunity.  Yes, I've seen all play.
I was not taking any thing away from Huff or ETSU,  but the kid is not in the same conversation with Shepherd.
