Flooding 2/15-16/2025
#1
How is everyone doing?  I hope everyone is high and dry.

River is going to get very close to flooding Pikeville, Prestonsburg, and Paintsville.

I know UMG and the city of Pikeville are currently closing the flood gate.

Prestonsburg City's Utilities is at the flood wall preparing the pumps tonight to keep as much out of town as possible.

Wild times.

My brother lives in a subdivision by Wal-Mart in Pikeville. When the Levisa Fork hits 40 feet, it places the river literally at his back door. It is now predicted to hit 47 feet. It isn't sounding good for him and many others.

I'm so sorry Westy!!

I'm dreading daylight this morning. A lot of our county is devastated.
I don't know the reasons, but we have flooded in areas that have never flooded before. We've had a lot of rain so maybe debris is clogging up culverts and ditches; I just don't know.

Prayers for everyone impacted!

I am sure everyone is seeing the videos being posted of Pikeville, Coal Run, etc.  I am amazed by the devastation.  .  I pray for everyone.  Be safe, Granny Bear.

It looks like Pikeville was absolutely hammered as well as Coal Run. It also appears Pikeville High School was hit. I hope JP is ok.

Well the rain has ended, thank the Lord. BUT, now it's pouring the snow.

I think the river was supposed to have crested in Pburg and Paintsville now.  How are you all doing, Blackcat?

Thanks Westy high and dry. Lots of people and businesses flooded and massive cleanup already in full force.

By far the worst flooding I've ever seen. I know 2022 flood was really bad, but this time around was a lot more widespread in areas, and just as bad as it was 3 years ago.

I'm in Floyd Co so I've seen a lot of flooding, I wasn't around during the 77&84 floods but in my lifetime this was by far the worst, Mother's Day 2009 was the last I remember being pretty bad. Luckily I was spared, my Dad lives in Maytown, it filled the basement and liked about a step from getting into the house, suffered some damage on the carport, and somehow didn't get in his truck & van. Seeing some of the pictures & videos on Facebook has just been heartbreaking. My thoughts & prayers are with everyone that's been affected in any way. It's going to be a long cleaning & recovery process, but we're some resilient people around here, we will get it done together.
