I'm making a seat of the pants prediction on this one. SL gets the upset win!

I watched the GC/GRC game last night on prepspin. If there is any teams in the state that can slow down moreno it’s South Laurel and DCA. HOWEVER, they may not have to bank on that. GRC was better at 2-6 than Great Crossing so expect Rawlings to have a big night. Of course Moreno can make up for that with a 25-20 game. Time for Mabe to show up and prove he can handle the best in the state.
If South wants to win, the role players HAVE TO STEP UP. They have to shoot better than they ever shot and rebound harder then ever before.
Cheering for the cards but it’s hard to pick against a man who will be dunking on Duke next year. He’s not just big, he’s skilled and smart. He’s also got one heck of a quick burst off the floor. A 7FT man with quick feet and can elevate.
GC 73-55.

I'd love to see South Laurel make it to Rupp, haven't seen them there in a long time, of course they had an incredible run in the 2000's with Proffitt & Walt Allen.
No doubt the 13th is a gauntlet, best region in the mountains when you have as many teams that can win it.
Love to see South win this game but Great Crossing just continues to roll right now.

South however has no answer for Holman or Dawson. GC 67-49 but Mabe outplays Moreno again and shows he was more deserving than the walk on offer UK offered(allegedly).

Big Walt Allen and Ty Proffitt--- big time high school players. Ty, who is family, on my mother's side, initially went to Notre game, then transferred to Morehead State, where he played alongside Kenneth Faried. Was on the staff at Tennessee, at one time, as video coordinator.

I was at that GC/GRC game last night. If Mabe matches moreno that would be a true shocker. It ain’t happening. If Mabe does come out and outplay him that would definitely raise Mabe’s stock.

Mabe won't match the rebounds but scoring wise very possible. Feldhaus outscored him head to head 29-18 and he and Mabe are similiar. I've seen Moreno a lot since he was in maybe the 8th grade although I haven't seen him this year. He is a monster but when he has faced players with similiar size their is a dropoff. At the end of the day it doesn't matter because of the supporting casts. Keep in mind GRC has NO viable size(Mabe cooked their bigs last yearbefore the injury). Again Moreno may go for 35 and 25--but I don't think so. But like I said at GC, the cards don't have much of a chance. The only common opponent is Montgomery who they both beat(SL barely). My cards will get plucked in this one. Just my opinion(which hasn't been good of late lol)

GRC has great size! Amari Bartleson is 6’7”, Montez Gay is an extremely athletic 6’5”. The lefty white kid #22 is around 6’8”. Thats viable size where i come from. Moreno blocked an untold number of shots and went for 22 pts and 20 rebs. As a 13th Region homer I would love to see south compete but i do not think they will. I’m sure Mabe will do Mabe type things but GC wins convincingly.

Man was i wrong. Sounds like Jordan mabe and south really brought it tonight. Its a shame south couldn’t hold on and win it.

As I said in another thread, so much for these ranking, GC has been backsliding lately. In all fairness, SL should have won this game tonight, totally outplayed GC for 31 1/2 minutes.

Listen everyone, this just shows what I said in the ranking the regions thread. A number 3 team in the 13th just went to the number 2 team in the STATE and out played them for 31.5 minutes. They aren’t even at full strength. The big state people from lexington and louisville can say whatever crap they want, the 13th winner regardless of who it is will see saturday at rupp!!

I was at this game. South Laurel slowed the game, didn’t turn the ball over and hit shots. They played pretty much a perfect game. Great Crossing just had more talent. South Laurel is good and their game plan was spot on! Came away very impressed with them. In high school sports anybody can beat anybody…gonna make for an interesting post season across all regions! South Laurel could very easily be in the sweet 16!

Bell, South, or Harlan County are all capable of seeing Saturday.
