Betsy Layne 60 Belfry 44

belfry jumped out to a 10-2 lead 3 mins in and it all went to hell

Belfry needs to have their primary focus on the district tournament. Only a few more regular season games but they really need to win that tournament game vs Phelps. Phelps is having a lot of internal issues. If Belfry wins then they will have a puncher's chance against Pike Central. I think if Belfry can end their season at the Appalachian Wireless Arena it would be a heck of a job by the players and the coaching staff

Congrats to BL on the win.

Got Prestonsburg tonight on the hill for their district regular season finale.

Good win for BL, but what has happened to belfry? At the beginning of the year I thought they would’ve done a whole lot better than what they are doing.

What would have made you think that? They actually are better than they were last year. What did you expect?

Just thought that the younger kids that played last year would’ve done better, and they brought in Brody Little and jaxson eastridge. Just figured they would have more than 3 wins in the region.

I would have to say D&D’s preseason/early season coverage and how they presented it put a huge target on Belfry’s back. I really like the thought of getting all of our mountain athletes more exposure through media but they seem to promote certain players or teams way more than others.

of the kids who played you brought back rash jude and hagy.... then rash transferred out after 5-6 games
you bring in estridge who averaged 6.4 as a junior at pburg
little who averaged 1.3 last year at pikeville
and diles

so you have those 3 jude hagy loomis and woolum that play. loomis hasnt played anything but soccer in years.

in some ways it feels like belfry has overachieved...... the damage done to the program will take years to overcome nad if brent perry checked out after this year nobody would hold it against him

They did promote them way more than any other team in the region. That’s just why I thought they would’ve done good this year.

I think Estridge is proving he’s much better than the 6.4 points he averaged at Prestonsburg. He never had confidence because he never got much of a chance. Now that he’s on a team that actually distributes the ball, he’s more aggressive and is showing what he can do.

im not taking anything away from estridge he is a good player that i think would have probably even better had he stayed at martin county
but i do feel like the only reason that his transfer got the hype it did was becuase of his unfortunate step dad..... it was not like he was a young man who averaged 20-25 and could be expected to turn the program around in a year

sorry if i seemed like i was insutling estridge
i think little is a very good player too and will be great in 2 years

D&D stated last night Belfry is best 8 and 16 team around and no one wants to play them come tournament time

D & D sports, Pure Prospects, KY Prep Report don’t do media justice.
If D &D sports post I can guarantee it’s about 1-5 kids.

Pure Prospects is a money gimmick. They were in western KY few years ago and now they’re in Eastern.

Prep report was a made up site to promote people that are trained by a certain individual.

The bad thing about all of this is that I think the Eastridge kid has worked his butt off and now showing most improvement maybe in the region but because of step dad it don’t do justice.
