Yeah, that BL team was really about the only team that I can think of from around here that should've won it. For a team in the 15th, they had the perfect combination of size, strength and quickness. Nathan Martin was the go-to guy, stood about 6'5 and could score from anywhere on the court.

I remember calling their run in the ALL A State Tournament for WMDJ radio, by far the highlight of my time there was having to go back & forth to Richmond due to the fact they kept winning. Ended up staying after the first night they won, then came back after their qtr final game, but then made the trip back for the semi-finals & championship games, but it was completely worth it to see a Floyd Co team win at that stage and be a small part of it. Everyone in Floyd Co thought after that run, BL would end the 10-year drought of a 58th District team making it to Rupp, unfortunately that didn't happen, and the drought is now up to 24 years and more than likely counting.

Interesting note on that same BL team that went to the Regional Championship to take on eventual State Champion Shelby Valley. The entire post season run for Valley, their closest margin of victory? Was 8 points over Betsy Layne, not saying that that means anything, but with some of the teams they had to play at Rupp, thought it was cool that BL was the closest.

Not sure of the year, but Dilce Combs the year they won the All A. Very loaded team with Trent, Campbell, Beverly, etc. Lost first round of the district.
