Both teams have improved since their first meeting. I’m going SV in a close one.

I think Paintsville is better, but they will have to utilize their size advantage and play good perimeter defense to win. Slow the ball down in the half court and pound the paint on offense, prevent SV from getting open shots on defense.

I'll take Shelby Valley in a close one, 75-72.

Be interesting to see how this game goes when played on a neutral court. The whistle was hugely in Paintsville’s favor in their first meeting.
I like Valley in a close one this time.

I’m a little bias to Paintsville having graduated from there but still I feel like Paintsville should be the favorite to win this game. Paintsville played them first game of the season and won by 8 and they did not play well at all that game until the 4th quarter. Paintsville has great size and their size will hurt a lot of people. If they played how they did the other night then it’s a toss up but If they play how they can and usually do then they win by 10-15 points. There isn’t a team in the region that size wise can match up with Paintsville and that’s what will help Paintsville do well in region tournament play.
Paintsville 72
Shelby Valley 56
Paintsville goes to the All A Championship and beats Martin County by 5.

Paintsville size will be big if they can play at their pace. Their size helps but Valley has more speed and if the game is played at their pace I think Valley will win.

This will be an interesting game, especially on a neutral court. Watched a little of the Valley-BL game on live stream, and they were very impressive especially in transition. They don't have the size to contend with what Paintsville has, nor the depth it seems but they play so hard, and are very well coached. Paintsville does have the personnel to run if need be, but they love to make this a half court style game, pound the ball down low and do their damage, Cole does a great job of utilizing the baseline, and can get to the basket w/ his strength. It all comes down who can control the tempo of the game, and how well Valley can handle the size w/ Woods & Cole.
With that being said, I think Paintsville will pull this one out, but they'll have to earn it.
Paintsville- 71

First semi-final game of the ALL A tonight, tip-off at 6.
Both teams have had plenty of rest, which could also lead to rust as well. Valley last played back on Jan. 10 where they lost to Mountain Mission, that has been their only game since Jan 2.
Paintsville's last game was back on Jan 3, which was the first round of the ALL A where they defeated Belfry.

2 Weeks of Preparation The tigers had for Shelby Valley. The tigers are more than ready and they are very confident. They played very bad against them last time and still pulled out a Win. Let’s go tigers!

I think if valley speeds the game up and gets to more of a run-gun type of play they could get going. The tiger have way more size than valley if I’m Valley you have to control the boards and not allow 2nd chance points. Neither team I’ve seen is deep on the bench so foul trouble could lean to a big role. I feel as Brady Johnson will have a big game but it won’t be enough. Tigers - 67 Wildcats -61

Wow, very competitive game and I feel like both teams left it all on the floor. Paintsville is just a great team overall and they play together so well. However for Shelby valley, I think they should’ve won this game. Hamilton does a great job of facilitating and getting other guys good shots they just didn’t fall tonight. Caden Johnson was hot for a minute and I feel like they didn’t look to get him more shots and brady johnson was doing what he wanted and getting to the rim but the middle stayed clogged up.

Shelby Valley will be a hard out come post season. They can upset any team in the region and they are my favorite to win the 59th.

Agree with you. Valley is a sneaky team that can hold their own and will play hard the whole time.

Valley can definitely ruin some teams dreams & aspirations come March. Taylor is a great coach, his teams play hard and very disciplined. Things got a little chippy in the 4th quarter, but overall it was a clean game, still a lot of missed/questionable calls but you're gonna get that every game around here.
Paintsville gameplan early on was to drive the basket, make solid cuts, just feed it in the high post to Woods or Cole on the baseline, and there wasn't a thing Valley could do about it. Cole is definitely the go to, but Woods really impressed me with his footwork, he was in the high post for most of the game, whenever he got the ball he didn't settle for a jumper, Valley didn't have the size to contend with Paintsville, so Woods just went to work backing the smaller defender down, even had some nice spin moves & drop steps to get easy baskets. Cole does so much of his damage on the baseline, which is something you teach pretty early on in basketball is to cut that off, but just the way he uses his body to get to the basket in penetration is impressive.
One thing I noticed, they had a 15 point lead toward the end of the 3rd, but they were playing like they were down 15, just like that Valley cut it to 8 going into the 4th, and got it to as close as 5. Paintsville held strong tho and made some clutch free throws down the end to extend the lead and hold on.
Balanced scoring from Paintsville, Cole, Woods, Kinner, and I think Lauffer all in double figures. Great win for the Tigers after being off for nearly 2 weeks.
