Keathley / Watts will be interesting watch both top players in that region for sure

Game day. How we feeling?

I think Pburg (especially Keithley) needs to be focused on playing their game and not get tempted into playing Martin county's game. If we try to run and dunk with the Cards then we're going to lose. Period. We need to slow the game way down, play tough defense cutting off penetration, and work good half court sets on offense playing team basketball to win this one.

Should be a fun one to watch, looking forward to being in the bleachers for this one! Hail Blackcats!

I actually disagree with this. I think if Prestonsburg wants to win, they need to play an uptempo game. Prestonsburg is 4-1 when scoring more than 70 points and 1-4 when scoring 69 or less. In the 5 game winning streak, they’re averaging 78 ppg whereas they started the season 0-5 averaging 61ppg. Prestonsburg isn’t a grind it out team. They’re at their best when they get up and down. We don’t have a lot of shot creators outside of Keathley. Playing fast keeps us from having to figure out how to score within a set. In my opinion: if this is a high scoring game, Prestonsburg competes. If it gets slowed down, we lose badly.

Today’s finally the day for these games. Pburg looked really good against pikeville but there dream run ends today. Pburg ain’t gonna be able to sit in the pack line like they did against pikeville. I believe valley is gonna take that other side and we will see a Martin vs Valley championship game

I don’t think we’re deep enough or in shape enough or play transition defense well enough to play uptempo. We’ll run out of gas too early. I guess we’ll see how Tackett plans it in a couple of hours, but I think we lose by 15-20 if we play uptempo because they’ll outscore us 2:1 in the 4th on tired legs. We need to have a punchers chance in the last 5 minutes of the game and we lose that if we’re completely gassed with little help from the bench.

I think shot selection has been the biggest difference in the first 5 games vs the last 5. I’d be interested to see FG% numbers between the first 5 and last 5. I imagine it’s probably a 15-20% increase based on how the games feel while watching them. The style of play doesn’t look markedly different to me in any of the 10, but the patience on offense and taking what they’re given has been much better.
