Greenup County at Johnson Central 10/18

Greenup County vs Johnson Central. Thoughts?

Johnson Central big

I believe Central has this one in a big way

Ashland rushed for over 400 yards against Greenup County. Johnson Central is leading all classes in rushing yardage per game. Those numbers do not look promising for Greenup County. I expect that Greenup County will open the game throwing against Johnson Central and I also expect that the Musketeers will have trouble running against Johnson Central's defense.

Greenup County has a solid football team and is the third-best team in the district but I do not believe that they will be able to slow down Johnson Central's running game. Johnson Central's defense should make enough stops to provide the team with a comfortable cushion. I don't expect JC to beat Greenup County as badly as Ashland did because the Golden Eagles will substitute sooner and get their key starters out of the game early, if possible.

The GC Fighting Tysons manage a score or two but Jc rolls as McCoart continues down his path of destruction.

On 10/11/2013..... Tyler Pack set the state record with a 60 yard Field Goal at Greenup County.
On 10/9/2015..... Tyler Pack set the state record with a 89 yard Punt at Greenup County.

Tyler's leg really loved Greenup County's field.

I think Greenup County's best season was in 1977 when they lost to Lou. Trinity in the 4A state championship game.

I remember the game Pack set the state record field goal in.

Greenup Co. has a decent team but is too one dimensional on offense. Golden Eagles by 4-5 scores.

I think it ends up being at least a 20 point spread.  JC on top.

Looking at the All-Time Win/Loss record.....

In 1985 & 1986, the games were decided by 1 point.
In 2003, the game was decided by 2 points. (JC's record was 1-9)
In 2001, the game was decided by 3 points. (JC's record was 2-8)

The last fourteen games have been blowouts in JC's favor.

Both teams are one dimensional and both teams are horrendous on the defensive side of the ball. It’s almost as if they don’t even practice defense at both schools. This will be a back-and-forth high scoring game and the winner of the game will be the team that commits the fewest turnovers. I’m hoping the Eagles won’t overlook Greenup this week in preparation for the district championship next week at Putnam.

Of the 25 points scored by Madison Central, one TD was a Pix Six.
Of the 15 points scored by Pikeville scored, both TD's were earned on JC's varsity.
Of the 41 points scored by Belfry scored, all 41 were earned on JC's varsity.
Of the 35 points scored by Breathitt County, all 35 points were against JC"s JV & Freshman.
North Laurel was a shutout.
Of the 14 points scored by Boyd County, both TD's were earned on JC's varsity.
Of the 56 points scored by Corbin, all 56 were earned on JC's varsity.
Of the 6 points scored by Rowan County, that TD was against JC's freshman.

The points allowed against Belfry & Corbin don't look the best, but Belfry & Corbin have some serious offensive firepower.

You're right though.... JC decided against practicing defense this year.  We chose to use AI generated holograms instead of actually sending out players.

Thanks for the laughs. Looking at the schedule that Ashland has played, it is not exactly loaded with teams having explosive offenses. Greenup County will not slow down JC's offense and JC will make a lot of defensive stops against the Musketeers. Greenup County lacks the depth to hang with JC for four quarters. Tyler Sammons and Zack McCoart are both great individual players, but McCoart has a better supporting cast.

We shall see how well JC defends against Ashland's small line, but that issue won't be settled this week.
