I know we're right in the middle of football season, but we're now less than a month away from the official start of high school basketball! 
October 15th (for those who celebrate) 
Cannot wait!

I love HS basketball. Nothing like a packed gym between two fierce rivals. Can't beat it. Plus, when it's cold outside, the warmth of a gym packed to the rafters with screaming fans feels pretty darn good.

Thats the truth! Sadly isn't what it used to be tho. 

I'm from the 15th, best rivalry we got here is Paintsville-Central, one of, if not the top rivalry in the mountains, nothing compares. 

Always high intensity & drama, and so hot in both gyms (especially Paintsville) you can't even think straight.

Breathitt County at Hazard on 12-2. This a major game on the first Monday of the season. Whitley County 12-27 tournament shows teams from St. Louis and Nevada. Bobby Keith Classic has 6 games on schedule this year. On 2-1-1986 Phelps with a road win at Matewan. I would like to see game film of this game. We must always remember Brian Charles a great player for this school. He scored 28 points as a 10th grader in this game 77-76 in overtime win. Also his play in the 88 Region at Pikeville as i watched him play in semifinal.
