Final from Green County High School.
LaRue looked like the better team, better athletes. They let Bethlehem hang around-- a banked in three in the third quarter when the Eagles were on the ropes were huge. Just when the Hawks would push it to four and have possession, Bethlehem would find a way to hang around.
Bethlehem hits two threes on back-to-back possessions to tie the game at 54 with 50 seconds left. LaRue would get fouled out of the timeout and convert both free throws with 36 ticks remaining. Bethlehem then came down and hit another huge three off of a dribble hand-off. With 28 seconds left, LaRue held for one and wound up taking a three (despite only being down one) that fell short and the buzzer sounded shortly after (and before anyone could corral the rebound). I don't think that the three was their first look and while the video and clock might not have been perfectly sync'd, it looked like they got into their action late and might have had some confusion on exactly what it was that they were wanting to do-- the three was taken by the team's fourth leading scorer and left his hands with about four seconds remaining.
Bethlehem came into the contest at 15-14. They'll get a shot at Adair County in the final with a trip to Rupp on the line.
