Clay County 68 Corbin 65
#1
Hounds stage a furious fourth quarter rally at Manchester, cutting a 13 point lead to a single point on a Worley three with 7 seconds remaining. After two Clay FT's, Curry gets a good look from three at the buzzer that would have sent it to OT.   Corbin had another poor shooting night, hitting just 35% from the field. Other than Jackson, Clay was brutal from the foul line down the stretch.  Coach Keith and Coach Hicks are turning over in their graves at the quality of basketball being played by the two schools that have combined to win nearly half of all the 13th region titles .  Either Clay or Corbin(or both) have played in exactly 75% of all 13th Region title games. Got news for you... neither of these teams is going to be winning a region title any time soon.  Two lousy teams.

Go Tigers!!! Outside of the late Technical i thought Clay did a great job closing this one out. Just got to keep getting better and sharing the ball like we did.

The Hounds loses two in a row and if memory serves me correctly the Hounds got Great Crossing next and will be three losses in a row. These losses will help the Hounds more than people think and I still say the Hounds cut down the nets at the arena…

Harris went up for a dunk and missed it.....he then hung on the rim and tried to tip in the dunk when it popped up in the air.  It was the correct call with him hanging on the rim...but it ended up being his 5th personal foul which sucked.

When I guy says these losses will help us on down the line, it’s like whistling by the graveyard. Nobody really believes that but losers. Losing develops doubt. Tony is no the same coach as he was 10 years ago or even 5 years ago. I think he is tired and I just don’t see the fire from him or his teams like I used to see. Clay and Corbin used to be a game everyone circled on the calendar to go watch, now it’s just another Tuesday night game. There is change on the horizon not just for Corbin but the 13th region in general. The 13th has produced some great teams and players, but after this year who is going to be the next Noah or Sheppard or Farmer.

There are a ton of average teams in the region which will allow some of the blue bloods to continue to shine but the sun is setting

Interesting about Tony. I always listen to his post-game interviews. He still seems really engaged and seems to be enjoying coaching the kids. I would like to see a little more of the fire that we've seen in the past. Also, why is sad sack old man, Johnny Crawford, still allowed a spot on the Redhound bench? He adds NOTHING but a sour attitude.

Good question about Crawford, in fact I’ve always wondered why he was on the staff. I will say Tony is still one of the top coaches around but compared to him 5 years ago he is just not the same. Not a criticism just an observation.

May be because you can’t coach kids the way they need to be coached any more. A person shouldn’t have to yell, scream, cuss, just to get a kid to play hard. I feel like it’s better overall for a coach to be calm. If a kid ain’t getting it done, set them and next man up.

13th has also had a really nice run of talent lately.

Sheppard is likely going to end up playing in the NBA. That's a pretty big deal for any high school player from Kentucky.

Has been a nice cycle with he and Noah at the top and other athletes with non-P5 offers or D1 interest in other sports mixed in.

For any region other than the 7th, 9th, and 11th, there'd really be nowhere to go but down after this type of run-- as far as seeing an NBA and P5 scholarship player together in the same class in the 13th-15th, chances are that it does not happen again in our lifetime.

After 2 minutes starting the game when Harris entered the game it was pretty much all Clay until the T was called with a little over a minute left in the game. Clay played smothering defense. Corbin had no answers keeping Bundy and Clay off the boards and had no answers for stopping Harris Roark or Jackson. Though it was at Clay they got no home court favors from the reffs. I personally thought Clay looked good. Alot better when I watched them earlier in the month.

It’s sorta like scheduling weak teams in football regular season and always get the wins and then playoffs starts and you get beat by a better team because you weren’t prepared. When you schedule tougher teams in regular season and take a loss or two it always prepares your team for playoff run. I’m guessing you must assist Greer with his scheduling because win in regular season but get beat in playoffs. I’d talk about losers if I was you buddy, we all just witnessed the most expensive Region Runnerup in the history of KHSSA…I’d say Tony keeps Crawford on the bench to chap Greers ass..

Tommy must have the largest staff in the history of high school football. You know you can get help for the fixation on Greer and his ass.

Just a casual observation from a feller who has watched a lot of 13th region sports.

Yeah I’m hearing the cure is on the way in the form of replacement therapy. That’ll help about 90% of people that’s been forced to watch the debacle the past four years. As far as your observations about Tony being tired and not the same coach he was 10 years ago even five years ago as you mentioned. You said you didn’t see the fire in him or his teams. I’d like to challenge you to come sit behind the bench about two rows back and listen to Tony coach and you’ll see he’s not tired and has plenty of fire in him and will still be playing in Region Championship game at the arena despite last three losses.
