Hazard - 68 Breathitt- 61

Good game to watch as a neutral spectator. Hazard defense is top notch. Breathitt rushed some shots and made some bad passes, which was a result from Hazard’s defense. They will play at least 1 more time at Memorial. I still believe Region is wide open. All it takes is 1 bad game come post season and you are done.

I’ve never been a believer in the word “fluke” but Breathitts win over Hazard in the All A was as close as you can get! Tonight showed Hazard is by far the best team in this region. Big Al had the fighting Honeycutts in his back pocket. It’s Hazard then everyone else in this fairly weak 14TH region

They have traded wins. Breathitt by 3, Hazard by 7. Seems pretty close to me. Not like either team has been throttled by either team.

Breathitt is supposed to be the top team in regional from Mt. Top 10 and a D-1 player and Honeycutt record is 12-8. Needs to go back to girls coaching.

There is not a legitimate D1 player on this team and he has three first year starters with little to no experience playing with little to no help from the bench. His son can shoot the ball but he couldn’t guard a stump. Collins off the bench is as weak as boones farm wine. Hamilton and Bellamy haven’t provided much spark lately and when they don’t produce this team struggles. Let’s be honest terry and gross aren’t offensive threats and that leaves sperry and besides his attitude he’s all they have offensively. So for what Honeycutt has to work with I think he’s doing the best he can. I think if he had the 22/23 team he would have won the region back to back. I’d like to hear what you think he could do different.

Also note the strength of schedule between these two teams. Breathitt has played teams like GRC, Danville Christian and Lawrence county. Hazard’s schedule has been mid at best. Again I actually think both these teams are fairly even. Just wanted to add context. I wish both teams luck in their seasons.

Breathitt starts 4 seniors and a fifth year Junior. Hamilton is a senior, Sperry a Junior. Yet , Sperry is a year older. lol(01-31-2024, 09:20 AM)Gladiator Man Wrote: Breathitt is supposed to be the top team in regional from Mt. Top 10 and a D-1 player and Honeycutt record is 12-8. Bellamy use to be a dead eye shooter. To me his form has changed and he can’t throw one in the ocean. He was air balling three pointers last night as when he use to be deadly in grade and middle school. I’ve never seen someone’s shot just disappear like his.

Bellamy isn't the attitude on that team Austin Sperry is every where they go he has issues with another player an his momma wants to get on Facebook an whine an cry like the rest of the breathitt fans saying everybody hates her baby cause they are jealous he is not the only player to ever come through the region that has gotten d1 offers an I don't think it's that everyone is jealous of him he has a bad attitude an ego that barely fits in the coliseum he's mouthy with his coach, other players and refs so take some accountability but breathitt fans or parents just can't do that easier to blame refs for EVERY loss or the coach

Breathitt has over achieved this year in my opinion. As someone mentioned earlier, three of the five starters rarely saw any minutes last year unless the game was out of hand and it was mop up duty. Bellamy was the sixth man, but didn't get a lot of minutes compared to the starting five. Sperry is the only one of the starters that I feel like was battle tested coming into this season. Breathitt doesn't have a strong bench, and most of these kids are playing basically the whole game. Overall it's been a good year, and I look for them to get things ironed out and regroup for another run to Rupp!

The same can be said about Hazard. They only returned two players who played any real minutes last season. And they have no seniors on this year's team.

He thrives in zone defenses when he is hitting but against a man defense he struggles to score. Sperry & Bellamy are the only two players that can create their own shot. I’d like to see Sperry run the point at all times and put the shooters on the wings. Insert Honeycutt a little more often because he is the best shooter on the team(01-31-2024, 11:00 AM)Mountainparkway Wrote:I agree with most of what you say, although Terry and Gross have been pleasant surprises in my eyes. Damn these breathitt natives and their feelings. I’ll say it again, Bellamy’s shot has disappeared compared to what it was in the past. I don’t care if that hurts your feelings gladiator. Truth is the truth
Who cares if I played or not. We talking about 2024 bruh. Nobody cares about 1991.

Breathitt had to hit back to back 3’s to send the Powell County game into OT.
