The Corbin Redhounds were D R E A D F U L !!!! They were outplayed , outhustled, outcoached , outeverything! Corbin shot 5 for 28 in the first half(17.8%) and shot just 28% for the game. The only reason this game wasn't a laugher is that Whitley was pretty bad, as well. Corbin needs to go back to the drawing board. Seriously, what do these guys do in practice? They looked like they had never played(or practiced) the game before. Swords was much better than Pietrowski tonight. With 4.8 seconds remaining and coming out of a timeout, Corbin allows Whitley to take the ball the length of the court in 3.8 seconds for a game-winning layup. JUST ATROCIOUS !!! Corbin was bad all night but especially bad coming out of timeouts. Maybe the kids were distracted, maybe they just thought they had to show up to win... maybe they're just not very good.
We'll see how the Hounds respond Tuesday night in Manchester. We'll see if they have any fight, any heart, any toughness, any smarts. At this point, I'll say the red team will take a double-digit loss. And WHAT THE HELL is that old fossil, Johnny Crawford , still doing on the Corbin bench? He adds ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to the team... Nada, zero , zip, zilch !!! When he played back in the early 70's, his dad would sit right behind the behind and coach Johnny. Instead of listening to the coach, John Boy would listen to daddy. He still walks around with that same old sourpuss expression he had back in the day. I can't help but think he is a negative influence on the team. GET RID OF THE OLD ALBATROSS!!!! He has no business on the bench, whatsoever!!!
Harlan County has a cakewalk to Rupp!!!

How long had it been since Whitley had beaten Corbin, much less at Corbin?
It's been a strange week in high school basketball. Lots of schedules got thrown off over the past few weeks due to weather and it seems like a lot of teams in the area are scrambling to get make-up games in. Not shocking that you'll have some upsets.
For the record, I don't think Whitley County is a bad team or that this is anything that Corbin can't overcome. I don't know that one game does anything to unseat the Hounds at the #2 spot in the 13th behind Harlan County aside from giving Whitley and some other teams confidence against them going forward.

I mean, teams look a lot worse than they really are when virtually none of their shots are falling. Corbin couldn't throw it in the ocean if they all had been standing on the beach. The only time this team has really impressed me this season is when it took Harlan County to task in the second half of that game. Over a span of 14 minutes Corbin outscored Harlan County 33-16. Outside of that, Corbin has been nothing to write home about. Tonight is a low point. We will see how the team responds Tuesday night.

Corbin will be fine. If I were picking a team to coach for the next four years and considering things like current class, Pietrowski would be one of the first kids in the 13th that I'd take in a draft. Big, physical kids who are listed at 6'4, have offers to play TE in the SEC, and grew up around the game aren't exactly roaming the halls of many schools in the 13th.
I'm always a fan of teams heavy in multi-sport kids, and you all have plenty of them. Looks like you have some younger kids that are coming along and playing bigger roles as March draws closer.
I was saying that North Laurel wasn't so bad at the beginning of the season when others thought the sky was falling. Outside of South Laurel losing Mabe, I don't think there's a need for anyone in the 13th to hit the panic button in their chase of Harlan County. Relax and take a deep breath-- it was a bad shooting night and you'll probably be there in the end.

Corbin needs to honestly clean house from top to bottom with new football and basketball coaches. They need new blood and new energy. The girls and boys basketball teams are a dumpster fire that is smoldering.

“Corbin was the better team and is Actually the best team in the world and will probably win state and even if they don’t they are more talented and a better team.” - Corbin fans probably.

Corbin is better than Whitley. That much is true. Whitley's not very good. Corbin couldn't make a shot. Had they hit 40% for the game, they would have won by double digits. Corbin lead Harlan County with two minutes remaining in the game. However, I see the Black Bears having a pretty easy path to Rupp. South is Mabeless and Corbin is clueless, at this point.
