This is a huge win for the Tomcats. Ashland has really turned things around from ealier in the season. Congrats to Ashland and their community.

Looks like Ashland will travel to Cal next week and Mason County will travel to Bardstown.

Great win putty tats!

Great win. Chad Tackett is coach of the year. Unbelievable turnaround. What an opportunity for the Tomcats to get to play the number 1 team next weekend.

Ashland will be loaded for the next few seasons as long as Tackett doesn’t allow himself to get recorded by any crafty Boyd County parents.

Holy wow!!! Congrats putty tats! I will eat my crow. Good luck from ramland next week!

Coach Tackett is a good guy and I think everybody will agree with that. I'm happy for him. Even if they don't win it this year, Ashland has a real opportunity to be at or near the top of any class they play in with what's coming back and coming up. They are loaded for bear at the skill positions.

Congrats Ashland! Seeing Dud with an Early exit makes me warm and fuzzy. Hate it for the kids. Did he spend the second half in the bleachers trying to rally the troops for 2023?

I love these Tomcats but I picked against them in this one. Most fans, including myself, looked at this season as a learning experience for this young team. They have matured and are playing "above their age", which is a testament to both the players and the coaching staff. Regardless of next week's outcome the experience they have gained this year will prove priceless the next couple seasons. Congratulations Bell County, turnovers are hard to overcome, especially this far into the playoffs.

That sucks. I knew Ashland would be tough. IMO, even if it's a Bell with tradition, in 3A if  you lose 2 or 3, and sometimes even 1 starter it can mean doom for the playoff. I know it's hard to say this or that, but say you have just a great outside contain defensive end or OLB and he goes down, it really could be a 21 point difference in a game. But congrats to Ashland, they are definitely good and I figured would be a tough close game.

This is so true.  If you have 8-9 that can play and are already hiding a couple out there…..losing one stud player at some programs can wreck a season.  I’ve dealt with it twice.  Congrats to Ashland; heck of a year.  Good to see Tackett redeeming himself. I remember thinking he was the “next big thing” 20!years ago at Fairview.

If I am not mistaken, I believe Coach Tackett has been on the Ashland staff for a long time coaching under Leon Hart and Tony Love.  His success really is no surprise after working under successful Tomcat coaches and being groomed for this position.
