Not the offensive explosion people where expecting put a good defensive game. Hazard scored on 2nd play, and Ashland scored on its first series. Back and fourth after that. Hazard had a chance to scored inside the 20 just before halftime but turned it over on downs with seconds remaining for halftime. 3rd and 4th was say way. Hazard got a big 4th down stop late in the 4th. But couldn’t capitalize, but did end up pinning Ashland deep. Ashland threw a puck with under a minute that max Johnson returned to the 8 yards line. Hazard score after that to take the lead. Ashland got down to the 18 with 2 seconds left. I’m not sure if the pass was incomplete or short of the endzone.

Funny how these games sometimes go the exact opposite of how you’d think they’d go. Figured it would be an offensive shootout and it’s a defensive struggle. Good win for Hazard, though. Ashland’s district games are going to be close.

Ashland is night and better from the first game of the season. They are getting better each week.. Should be a tough district for them. Look for a battle between them and East Carter.

I agree.  This isn’t the same Ashland team that played Raceland.  They have gotten better.  That makes this a good win for Hazard that puts them on the cusp of being considered 2a and 2b with Raceland.

I think they are par, I would like to see hazard when inside the 20 go to power a little more and work some play action off of it. But I did like the defensive effort. Especially for both teams. Both teams give up big numbers there previous games to do that.

Former Tomcat Aris Pittman was sidelined last night at Ironton due to Ashland reporting to the OHSAA for recruiting violations/transferring. Reported by Pittmans mother and sports talk 16th region. Meanwhile the Ashland basketball coach was caught on audio recruiting multiple players.

Isn’t the same Ashland team that played Raceland??? Lol it’s the same Ashland that two weeks ago Wheelersburg beat 49-7 and gave up 63 points to West Jessamine last week. Hazard has a good team and we will know how good when they play Bardstown in a couple weeks.

This makes the Ashland administration look like complete petty idiots if true.  Pittman got an offer to UK within a week of being at Ironton.  Ironton’s coach clearly has connections with big time schools and is using them to benefit players.  Like I said on another thread, what area football player who has aspirations of playing in college wouldn’t go to Ironton right now?  You’d be a fool not to.  Ashland isn’t holding camps where D1 coaches are coming here to watch players.  They aren’t hosting some of the best teams in the nation at their facility.  The Ironton coach has produced scholarships for players to Ohio State, Wisconsin, Cincinnati, and several others already have offers to schools like UK.  Are you kidding me?

This is why I call them ….Assland. They have an open door policy but damn don’t dare leave cause they will call in the feds hahah. They would t play Rose Hell…as Dicky called them” when they were good but had no problem scheduling them 10 times when they are horrible.

Why wait until mid season to report this?  If they were that concerned about it then it should have been reported during the summer when the transfer first happened.  It sounds like Ashland’s basketball program is going to have some sanctions dropped on them and they are going to try to bring everyone they can down with them.

Sports would be so much better in the region today without Ashland crying foul about everything. But they have done it for a span of 20 years.

2003 Rose Hill
2009 Rose Hill
2013 Fairview
This year reports Ironton and drops Ironton from schedule

Without Ashland, Fairview is still rolling with somebody and Rose Hill is a boys and girls basketball power (and may have even had football, a huge bunch of their kids that went to Ashland played there after playing football for Rose Hill in middle school). Makes the whole region better from a competitive standpoint, but Ashland can’t have that.

It goes deeper than just sports, the city of Ashland is just as bad about trying to stop growth in neighboring communities, particularly in Boyd County.  It really baffles me how people still want to live in that city and send their kids to school there with all of the problems that exist in the city of Ashland.

Why is it that Ironton has eleventy billion D-1 players and never wins anything? I think he’s blowing up players that couldn’t play for a lot of NAIA schools let alone D-1. I think he’s promoting hisself more than anything.

Agree with ya Rammadevil. Not saw any Ironton grads on ESPN games all day or ever really. Best one I remember ever watching was Darius Lewis.

I understand you have to tow the line of Ram propaganda because Ironton is a huge competitor in the “arms race” for players, but come on…Pendleton sure doesn’t look like a guy who is “promoting himself”.  He looks like what he is, a guy who actually played fullback 4 years for Michigan State on CBS, a guy who knows what it really takes to do so, a guy who has made connections along the way, and a guy who is using that experience and those connections to help his players reach their goals.  As far as a state title, he’s already been in the title game and might get a trophy this season.

All that said, I realize I sound like some former Fighting Tiger.  I’m not.  I think I’m realistic, though.  And I realistically believe Ashland is in the wrong for trying to throw a roadblock in the careers of their 2 former players.

I want to correct myself. Ryan Dean intercepted the pass and took it back to the 8.

Ashland has stats up. Hazard held them to 114 yards on the ground and 161 through the air.

Great points. Ironton has won two state titles in a state that has more than three times as many football teams than Kentucky and has appeared in the state championship game in each of the past two seasons. For a Raceland fan to attempt to belittle Ironton's rich football tradition is hilarious. Kentucky is not a football state and if Raceland has ever made it to a state championship game, then I must have missed it. (No disrespect intended for Raceland's football program, just for a single crazy Raceland fan. Most Raceland fans are smart enough to understand the rules of living in a glass house.)
