I just saw Mountain Top Sports Facebook page had a list of all the games on tap for today and it had Holmes playing Pike Central in the P.I.T. instead of Cincinnati Hughes.

Pikeville beat Knott Central. Heard Pike Central won as well. I watched the 4th quarter of the Betsy Layne/Teays Valley game which Betsy Layne won 74-71.

Very impressed with Betsy Layne. Length, athleticism, kids play hard. This region is gonna be fun to watch. This may be the best I’ve seen this region in awhile. Belfry, Betsy Layne, Johnson Central, Paintsville, East Ridge, Pikeville, Pike Central all capable of winning this region. Also in watching East Ridge tonight, had the Sykes kid been at a program and been devoted to football, geez that kid would be going high D1. Big body, moves great. He’s a very good basketball player but guys he missed his calling.

Tonight Coach Newsome put Andrew Kidd at PG and basically let him dictate the offense and boy did it work. Kidd made good decisions on when to take it to the goal and when to pass it up. He had some turnovers but he had the ball in his hands 90% of the time bring the ball up the court and it was his first game being the primary ball handler.  We are still waiting for Brady Robinson’s coming out party but it’s coming, he’s way too good for it not to. But Betsy Layne can be scary by the seasons end

It was definitely a good win for the Bobcats. I’ve seen someone post on social media that they beat the #4 ranked team in West Virginia according to Max Preps. I wouldn’t go off what is on there. They have Pikeville the #3 team in the state of Ky. I think Pikeville is good but they aren’t the #3 team in the state.

In the last game it looked like East Ridge point guard hurt his ankle. Does anyone have any updates on him?

The way Pikeville is playing. I wouldn’t doubt that they aren’t in the top 5 teams in the state. But it’s way too early to be talking about top teams in the state I guess. Because right now it’s all about taking your lumps against good teams now to be better in March.

I agree.  It was a great win for the Bobcats.  I just think MaxPreps isn’t the best for rankings. I believe they only get their info if someone posts it to their website. 15th Region was well represented today at the PIT.   East Ridge fought Mason County to the end as well.

Panthers started slow but came out of halftime and turned up the defense. Pike Central is better then I had anticipated. Hawks will need a huge game out of their back court to compete with Pikeville. The panthers run and jump defense is tough to beat, teams have to move the ball FAST to beat it. Betsy Layne really shouldve won that game by more, they kinda let up in that 4th quarter and had some mental mistakes. Teays Valley was fun to watch and definitely has some athletes.

East Ridge will be off today.

Hughes defeats Knott Central, so they will play East Ridge tomorrow in the 5th place game.

Knott Central, I believe PIT organizers are going to try to find them a game for Wednesday.

BL with a big win over Mason. Bobcats versus Pikeville tips off at 7:30 tonight for all the marbles. Should be a good one. If BL can be successful against that aggressive Pikeville defense they can win. I do not think those big guys from BL will have a lot success bringing the ball up the floor against Worrix. Bobcats are gonna have to get the ball inside.
