The magic ride the girls team in this isolated impoverished county and small town of McKee gave the people of this small county will never be equaled. Andrea Whitehead the PG was the spark and played with so much heart and desire. Tiffany Roaden was the leading scorer. Tiffany was a Miss Basketball candidate in 2001. Sarah Elliott in 2002 was first team as a 10th grader. Candice Rose in 2001 was second team all state. Shea Lunsford in 1995 was first team all state. Shea was a star at Western Kentucky and played in the WNBA for the New York Liberty. I watched Shea play against Robin Music from Johnson Central in the 95 first round state games in Frankfort. Coach Greg Parrett won loss record was 172-33. Leah Moore was Honorable Mention for 3 seasons in a row. Jackson County won the Fifth Third Bank Prime Classic in Lexington and the Pickerington Classic outside Columbus. Sarah mother Janet was a head coach & assistant for over 25 seasons. Whitney Moore, Brittany Carr, Keisha Combs and Jeannena Hignite were valuable players to this team. Credit to coach Robert Lakes with 10 seasons before this talented team and 10 seasons after the graduated. If the players had won a state final the town of McKee and small county would have brought new light to these people.
