Russell had their chances to make the game closer, even getting to the Ironton 1 once on 4th and 1 and losing 4 yards.
Congratulations to Ironton. The games was 3-0 until the 4th.

Russell had 2 dropped interceptions.

Could not be prouder of the Devils 2 very good teams and an extremely physical game Iâm sure both teams will feel it tomorrow. Game was 3-0 with 3 minutes left Ironton scores td on questionable 40 yard Td pass. This game was big boy football

Russell punting looked better with Gabe Floyd doing it.

Just a solid football game that both can be proud of. I never will be a fan of shotgun snap inside the 1 yardline.

The big game changer was in the middle of 2nd quarter and Russell had it 1st and goal at the 6 and 4th and 1 at the 1 and lost 4 yards to turn the ball over. Then Ironton marched down the field and had it 1st and goal and Russell held them to a FG to make 3-0 at halftime. It was 3-0 late in the 4th quarter and the 40 yard TD Pass will be talked about because it was very close. If Russell could have just punched it in middle of 2nd quarter and would have went up 7-0 it could have changed the game. You could feel the Momentum change when Russell didn't get it in on 4th and 1 at the 1. Ironton finally got going and marched down and was 1st and goal but Russell's 'D' held them to a FG. It still felt like the game changed not getting the TD. Even in the 2nd half Russell's Defense looked outstanding and they could had a couple of Interceptions that was dropped. Still with all the hype for Ironton this year and there huge OL and DL and great 'D' with Reid Carrico having offers from Bama, Clemson, OSU, and Notre Dame, and most all SEC schools are after him. This Russell Red Devil team is for real and this is one of the best Defenses I have seen in awhile at Russell. They basically shut down one of the Top teams in Ohio Division 5 Football this year. Great game for Russell tonight!

This is the best Russell team in a long time, particularly the defense. However, they do suffer from a lack of speed and playmakers. If they had a Gross or Clark in the backfield, they could be looking at a state title this year. Itâs going to be hard to get it done, though, without the ability to break the big play. Their defensive physicality and toughness is off the charts, though. I wish they could have beaten Ironton, but they should be headed into the Ashland game with only 1 loss and that game should be a great one with the contrast of styles. TJ is perhaps the best coach in the area as far as game planning.

After last night if I was Russell Iâd never play Ironton ever again the officials outta donate their checks to charity. The most piss poor performance Iâve ever seen out of a crew.
Devils had their chances! WTF are we doing in shotgun inside the 5??? Jesus Tap dancing Christ!!! Iâd love to know why we went shotgun jet sweep to the right fourth and goal. What was he thinking??? How come you think thatâs gonna work?

The kids played their hearts out and not only were let down by offensive play calling but damn near had it stolen from them by the officials. Ironton should be ashamed of themselves. Iâll never believe Ironton the school itself doesnât play a role in the obvious favoritism they get in close games and yea Iâm calling them out publicly! The Russell kids were the more physical team and made whatever his name is look average at best for Ironton. Nathan Conley was the best running back on that field. The kid is tough and couldnât be brought down by one tackler!
Russell very well could be 9-1. It wonât be easy for the Tomcats this year IF they are fortunate enough to win!

No that would be their officials! Ironton High School is one of the reasons you go 10-0 in regular season and only get one home playoff game in Ohio.

You are right to some extent. I need to restate what I previously posted. TJ is the best DEFENSIVE game planning coach in the area. The offense is questionable at times, but at the same time, itâs hard to score too many against a good team unless you have some skill positions with speed that can make a big play every now and then. Conley is the best theyâve got, but he is more of a workhorse back who gets a few tough yards a pop. I donât see a great passing game yet either. They do have a good kicker. He is going to have to be utilized this season in the big games against good teams.

There are playmakers with speed but only seem to get about 3 or 4 touches per game. Need to get them the ball out in space and let them loosen things up for the power running game..... this offense could be a lot more explosive

Told ya. Home of where the referees walk out of the house and onto the field.

All the penalties we're erased with the terrible call on a touchdown catch that was never a catch.
