What do Adam Dunn & Pete Rose have in Common?
#1
What does Adam Dunn & Pete Rose have in common? Pete Rose struck out 972 times as a member of the Cincinnati Reds. Last night, Adam Dunn struck out for the 972nd time in his career - all with the Reds.

Dunn tied Rose for 4th place on the Reds All-Time strikeout list.

Oh, by the way, Adam Dunn has now struck out 972 times in 2,954 at-bats. Pete Rose struck out 972 times in 10,934 at-bats.

Amazing!!!

Geez....let him use an ironing board or something.

That is a staggering statistic.

Good God! That's AMAZING! Nice post, JJ.

recipe to striking out Adam Dunn---throw anything but a fastball.

Pete Rose also only had 421 RBI his first 7 years.

Dunn has 496.

Pete Rose batted leadoff, you cant compare their RBI's.

He's just trying to find fault with something. Wink

Your numbers are what's flawed. SO's are like BA, one of the least telling indicators of any kind.

Let's go by On Base % then ,since Pete was a leadoff and Dunn strikes out so much, that should be a telling statistic.

For the first 6 years of there careers, b/c Dunn's only played 6 years.

Rose - OBP - .357%
Dunn - OBP - .378%

How about Slug %?

Rose - Slug% - .415
Dunn - Slug% - .516

OPS? The most telling number there is light years ahead of Avg.

Rose - OPS - .772
Dunn - OPS - .894

There's no comparison. You're stat is cute, but it means nothing.

His Slugging/OPS/OBP all depends on whether he gets on base and as long as he's striking out your numbers are irrevelant.

You cant compare Dunn to Rose, its a joke. How about this stat. Rose was Gold Glove winner as an outfielder and started all star games at 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and as an outfielder. Dunn cant even come in an play 1st and he is horrible in the outfield. Yeah he will hit 30 - 40 homers a year but other than that he is a liability.

You're obviously lost.

Of course it depends on whether he gets on base or not. But the numbers don't lie. Nice try.

Not as lost as you must be, this thread was done and settled a week ago.

Are you saying the OBP doesn't take into account his strikeouts?

Your comment makes no sense.

Dude you need to just let this topic die down, if you know anything about baseball you will not mention Dunn in the same sentence with Rose. I heard a stat last night on the radio from Marty that Dunn has something like 68 K's in like 165 offcial at bats this season. Dunn is all or nothing and he isnt taking this team anywhere. They need to ditch him for some pitching. Im sure there is some sucker out there like the Yanks that will take him off our hands.
