Paintsville 6 Raceland 0
KentuckyHillBilly5321 Wrote:Cmon man, Allen was good, but he wasn't freaking Warren Sapp. He was out of shape and took plenty of plays off, and wasn't always in on offense because he was out of shape. He was a good player, and I wish him well at WVA, but to act like Beechwood couldn't have handled him and kept him from wrecking the game, is a ridiculous comment.
He was sooooo dominant on defense, that the mighty Raceland offense put up 17 points on Paintsville, the same Raceland offense that had 27 yards against Beechwood. Paintsville better hope they develop more of a passing game than the lateral screens and deep ball game that they run.

Running the ball on Paintsville may have been a challenge last year, but Beechwood would have thrown it on Paintsville, just like they did to Raceland. Unfortunately Paintsville got beaten by Raceland, so we didn't get to see Warren Sapp wreck the Beechwood offense.

Not sure about Warren Sapp but was so out of shape all he did was get a D1 scholarship at a power 5 school and was named First Team All-State in every major newspaper in the state, not to mention top 5 finalist for Mr. Football! So someone must have seen him in some game where he was in shape! or a lot of people are lying. But you are right we will never see it and it is about what is going to happen the next 6 weeks! I am sure Paintsville will continue to work on their passing and try to play up to the standard that has been set! should be an exciting finish to a season where they are supposed to be down and out! Funny how coaching them up gets it out of players that seemed to be counted out!
SugeAvery Wrote:Passing game does need some work but the QB is getting better each week! Stacking 9 in the box would have worked but they still had to score on Paintsville's Defense and that was not an easy task with that front 7. I watched Beechwood about 4 times last year and their offensive line was solid LITTLE blockers!! Tyrese would have made them double him and he would have made it hard for them to score! As I said they did not have a team that was designed to beat a superior 1A player! They are a solid TEAM that does not beat themselves but they can be beat with a team that has a player that is not supposed to be playing in 1A football.

Right, he should have been at Johnson Central in 4A.

Watch back through the Raceland playoff game. His effort on defense in the first half was embarrassingly bad. Had a sack and one tackle, and the rest of the time either didn't rush the passer, or wrestled with the guy that was blocking him as the bal carrier ran on by.
D1 scholarships, many times are given out based on size and potential. He has size, and if they can get him to play harder, he may pan out. What I saw in high school, was not a player that would have single handily stopped Beechwood, I saw quite the contrary.
As far as all state goes, that thing is a crapshoot every year. You have guys voting on it that have never seen most of these kids play. They see that a kid is going to WVA, so they automatically assume that he's legit, so he gets the vote. Beechwood had a QB from about 10 years ago that played about 30 snaps all year at cornerback, and he was voted 1st team all state cornerback. Again, I hope the kid does well in college, I always root for the in state kids to do well at the next level, but he was far from the best player Beechwood would have gone against.

I believe BEECHWOOD had 3 or 4 D1 Kids on their Line. Not sure what you are smoking but would have been worse then what was done to Raceland. Beechwood could and would have did whatever that wanted to all other Class A Teams. They just a difference monster.

Do not smoke!!!, but you can go to the Top 50 Recruits for 24/7, Rivals, ESPN and look at the state's highest recruits and none of them are from Beechwood! As I have said I seen them play 4 games last year and NO and I mean NO D1 talent on their team! GOOD TEAM no D1 talent!! Now they win consistently and they do not beat themselves. I think they have a great system but D1 talent I don't think so! And yes they run class A until someone beats them!!

They actually have 2 Lineman committed to Middle Tennessee, and Army, so you are erroneous.

I must have gotten lost in this convo somewhere....what point are you trying to make about Beechwood not having D1 talent? Paintsville has it ...apparently last year and didn’t even make it to the championship game!So I’m lost on the argument here....what is the point?

And it’s a good damn thing Beechwood isn’t full of D1 talent...could you imagine what their coaches could do if they had it?
bac2369 Wrote:It’s all about matchups. Every game will be different. Pikeville beat Paintsville 36-14, Pikeville beat Hazard 33-27. Then Paintsville beats Hazard by 1 38-37. Also to note Skyler Phelps didn’t play but 1 series in the 2nd half in that game. Then Paintsville beats Raceland 6-0 in a defensive battle.

Jet made a good point about these teams and that’s familiarity with each other. So it’s basically a toss up on any given night on how each of these games would go!

You could also look at it this way. The score was 31-14 at halftime when Pelfrey went out. It all just depends on how you look at it. I do agree that the East is a 4 horse race and Pikeville is the favorite.

I stand correct, I was looking at the class of 18. Adam Derry is the only person committed to Middle Tennessee! This stuff is public knowledge. One is not 3 and I guess we will see Dec 20 when the early signing period begins if he signs! Go look at the offer and committed list for those schools. Plus I was referring to me coaching the game for 17 years and being a D1 athlete myself I was not impressed with any of their talent! I do agree that Allen need to be in shape and if he learns how to play hard that it will be a benefit to WVA. Like I said we can agree to disagree! That's fine!

Not to me and no disrespect thrown at anyone and I am definitely a Panther fan. But I still think Raceland is the favorite because they are the champs of the east. Go back to last year the losers in the first game between this four and won the second game then Raceland won the semi game. It could be the same this year but I hope not because Pikeville won the first one this time. If anyone counts anyone of these teams out in my opinion don’t know much about the East. Like I have said all year and still believe it. It could be any of the four teams yes I want Pikeville to win just like the other fans do want their teams to win. Going to be a war and who wants it the most but as always GO PANTHERS!!!

Credit Paintsville for taking a advantage of the Hazards mistakes to get the lead. Hazard made their defensive changes back to there normal scheme. Hazard only allowed 7 points the 2nd half without Pelfrey who is key defensively. Paintsville did leave 3 off the board though on the field goal that was partially blocked. But I agree Pikeville is the favorite but anything can happen with any of the other 3 making a run.

Adam Derry is committed to Middle Tennessee
Dayton Baugh is committed to Army

That's 2 guys, not 3. I said 2 Lineman. Also, as a D Lineman, I'd take Dayton Baugh all day everyday on my team over Allen.
The kid makes plays up and down the line of scrimmage and his motor doesn't stop.

I know ... we are just making the WHOLE THING UP!!!

https://n.rivals.com/content/prospects/2...ugh-232518

Or maybe this ... https://army.rivals.com/news/2-star-defe...2019-class

But lets not let facts get in the way of a good argument.

Good grief ... you run your mouth about commitments ... then only use one resource.

Thank goodness you don't speak for everyone in the East ... (and a big shout out to all of you guys in this thread who actually keep up with what is going on).

We just went up there and played them in a scrimmage this year and I talked to the coaches and they had 4 that had signed a that time. To help you that would make them Juniors last year.

The other 2 have committed to play D1 baseball.
Logan Castleman is going to Wright State
John Odom is going to Northern KY

So Beechwood has 4 Division 1 athletes on the team.
