Is this one of the Nike teams? A couple of the kids from Estill County are playing AAU thru Nike sponsorship. They travel all over the US. Is this the same team?

Not even close to the correct roster. This is the Derek Smith All-Stars organization based out of Louisville and sponsored by adidas.

Roster for the 17's

Nathan Novosel-Lexington Catholic
Jordan Smart-Lexington Catholic
Tyler Portwood-Scott County
Rodney Haddix-Findlay Prep/Scott County
Cameron Hundley- Scott County
Richie Phares(16 yr. old playing up)-Scott County
Clark Stepp-June Buchanan
Matthew Thomas-Ashland
Landon Slone-Paintsville

*Rodney and Tyler did not play this weekend with Tyler being on Spring Break and Rodney nursing an ankle injury. This group looks very promising for some of their major adidas sponsored events they will be participating in throughout the summer.

Mr. Robbie Vanhoose is the coach. He is the father of Jon Vanhoose of Russell who will be going on to play at Division-1 Evansville in Indiana.

Another AAU team to keep your eye on would be Team Kentucky. Most of these kids are under the big boys radars but as they showed this past weekend in Florence when they lost to DS East all stars by 6 and then beat them in the championship game by around 20, they can more than hold their own. In the championship game they led at one point by 32, hit 11 3's in the second quarter and 17 for the game. Tyler Maynard hit 7 3's for the game. They will play several tournaments during the spring and will leave in early July to play in L.A. for 3 weeks including The Adidas 3stripes and the Adidas best of summer tourneys in L.A.

2007 Team Kentucky Roster

Noah Keeton 6'-2" Lincoln County JR
Jordan Adams 6'-1" Scott County JR
Tyler Maynard 6'-1" Elliott County JR
Alex Stivers 6'-2" Daviees County SO
Trevor Edgington 5'-10" Lincoln County SO
Jordan Stephens 6'-8" Montgomery County JR
Matt Stephenson 6'-8" Hopkinsville SO
Phillip Biggs 6'-4" Meadowbrook ( Ohio ) JR
Ryan Mussellman 6'-4" North Miami ( Indiana ) JR
Connor Krall 6'7" North Oldham North Oldham SR

They do seem to have a nice team. It's really hard to evaluate all of the teams out there at this point. Most are just now getting everyone together are finding out how each of their teammates plays. There is a ton of talent between these two teams. Waydowntown, I thought Adrian Givens of Scott Co. played with Team KY.

Adrian Givens from Scott Co did play with Team Ky this weekend, but Jordoan Stephens Connor Krall, Mussellman did not play Portwood did not play for DS all were on spring break. Everyone on this team played great continuously beat DS up and down the floor. Then if they did not Maynard, Adams & Keeton were bombimg 3's. Maynard hit 7-9, Keeton 4-6 & Adams4-4 I think were the final #'s. DS had no answer for Maynard as they tried different defenders, even going to a match uop zone, but he kept hitting them with tough & bigger defenders on him. Quite a display of shooting by he & his teamates

WTF, isn't he a freshman? These teams are like 18 and under AAU teams.

Cox is a very good player, but he is not on any of the teams just mentioned. I think he would have to play 16U as these teams are 17U. he may be playing for his old AAU team the E. Ky Lightning I think is their name. Mostly kids from Shelby Valley & JBS

This team would be hard to beat.

I thought the Kentucky All-Star team for AAU is run by Eddie Ford.
#19
Eddie Ford does have All-Star teams from the 14U - 17U age groups but I believe the players have to pay to play.

The Adidas OBC Patriots is a team that has been together for 4 years and has won the AAU State Championship every year since 6th grade. This team was formerly known as the KY Patriots. Adidas sponsors the team this year which covers all expenses.

I've heard alot of great things about the Avery Kid from Connor, probabily one of the top top prospects in his class for ky basketball.
