It was a personal decision on why jamie resigned.my opinionis the program has went down hill since siple left , numbers have dropped off. Kids transferring out. No quality coaches at this point . new a.d. that has no experience in athletics.

Grant. County finally doing interveiws. This will be very interesting on who they hire
04-18-2018, 07:34 PM
Grant County made calls about 2-3 weeks ago. Good to see they are finally getting to do interviews. They were apparently waiting on the budget to be approved for next year and decisions to be made about potential vacancies within the school system.

Any word on who they interviewed?

I would be surprised to see a coach named before May 15th.

That's probably 100% correct. I would assume they're still waiting on positions and everything that goes along with that, to be sorted out.
Not the ideal way of doing it, but I've said before that as long as money is tight, I would expect more places to start doing this.

Is grant one of the more lower paying H.C football jobs out there?
04-30-2018, 07:07 PM
What is highlands ,cov cath, beechwood coaching salaries compared to grant. Im sure its alot more i would think , but is it a wide margin between the northern ky school vs like grant ?

I'm thinking Grant is about $8700 and then extended days on top of that
05-01-2018, 04:58 AM
No extended days. Itâs a little over 8K for the HC. Meade Co put out an email over the listserv looking for assistant coaches. Their pay? 8K. 3K for Frosh

Yeah, you're not going to get a lot of people to take the job with that pay, and no extended days.

Extended days are illegal anymore, unless its a grandfathered in person.

Since when? Bc I know some hired in the last couple years who have them tied into their coaching roles and not teaching gigs.
It wouldnât surprise me; sounds like some bull that would be pulled, but thatâs news to me.

My understanding was when they redid the rebook rules back in 2014/2013 ish, it was in those rules that no supplemental positions could have extended days as part of compensation, it had to be straight stipend.
Now, that doesnt mean I guess a district couldn't add extended days to the teaching position the coach may have.

Jacob Morris is the new football coach at Grant. He was the middle school coach and currently teaches at the Middle School.

definatley a smart decision by grant county. I think he will do a great job, defintely a step in the right direction. Hope he gets some good assistants

With the amount of the HC stipend being what is it, is there any remote chance that they could pay an asst anything competitive?
I'm not trying to be mean or harsh, but, if you can't pay someone even a decent amount of money for their time, who is going to go to that school, with that lack of history? There's nothing to sell other than hopes and dreams.

What is grant being compared to as far coaching stipened. Grant vs highlands, beechwood , cov cath , conner , ryle. i am assuming they make a heck of alot more ?

My assumption is that Grant is the lowest stipend of any comparable school within an hour.
And anything outside of that radius, it's going to be hard to find someone to relocate.

TheHotSnakes Wrote:My assumption is that Grant is the lowest stipend of any comparable school within an hour.I get your point and Iâm sure it is an obstacle for them. The problem with the comparison is within an hour you have Lexington, Georgetown, and northern Kentucky. The other programs that are closer are smaller class programs. Iâd be interested in what their stipends are.

I have no clue if this is the case at grant but at some schools the stipend money can be rearranged to pay more. The downside to that is you lose positions.
05-03-2018, 06:23 PM
Agree, grant is probably the lowest paid

Grant Varsity Coach pays $8,704.00

I hope the new HC can get something started. Grant County suffered for a long time in a district with much stronger foes in Cov Cath, Highlands, and Dixie Heights. In all honestly, they just donât have the resources to compete with those schools (yet). They are a 5A school that struggles to field 30 players. Last year was rough, but year two out of a murderers row of a district and I think they could see a few wins this year.
