Top 10 Players 16th Region
#1
How does everyone see it at this point. Things shaking out and roles taking shape. Mine would look something like this.

1.Wheeler- MOP from last year not gonna let it slip away this year. Around 27 ppg as well as up near top in assists and steals. And rebounds so well for a PG.
2.Robinson-Kitten pg and Lady Card signee a tough match up. All around game is there but still hasn't shot well. Takes pressure off other players on team but hasn't carried them to a signature win yet.
3.Darnell- Russell's Darnell scoring around 20 ppg as well as defending/rebounding/and assisting. Star player on good team.
4.Parker-Kitten sharp shooter has to be top shooter in state. Nearly 50% on 3's and all around game has improved.
5.Stone- West Carter 8th grader leading very good Lady Comet team. Sky is the limit for this kid.
6.Hacker-Menifee's Hacker a virtual double/double machine.
7.Shears- Boyd Sr lefty is a glue kid. Can shoot/defend/ handle and an unsung hero on a very good Boyd team.
8.Paynter/Boyd freshman getting better creating. She changes game with 3 pt range to open up lanes for Shears and Wheeler to drive.
9.Mitchell-Russell sr slowed a bit early due to back injury but shooting well and her athleticism and defense is a game changer.
10.Berry- West Carter jr scoring/rebounding and her inside toughness exactly what young WC team needs to carry them against a tougher 2nd half schedule.

Lots of ball left and anxious to see how things shake out. Good luck ladies!

I agree on some but others not so close.

1) Wheeler is playing like a top player. Must admit it.. shes got game in all categories. Shoots the ball lots though. 30 times a game is crazy!
2) Robinson is very good and would be tops on the list however her shooting is limited. Defensive no question is the best around. Does lots more than score for this team.
3) Darnell is very strong and has inside game and outside.
4. Parker is by far most improved on this list and simply is showing that shes the best shooter around the state. Crazy numbers from 3!
5) Hacker is better for me at this slot just on her talent alone. Hasnt played a tough schedule either but is very good on any team.
6. P Shears strong guard that can take it to you.
7. Berry a load to handle .
8. Paynter good player from outside. Cant leave her open!
9. Stone good player that will be great in years to come.
10. Borders BC is a game changer on role alone. She does so much for this team behind the big picture.

Not sure your numbers add up....actually shoots 20 times a game...not 30. Also shooting 38% from 3 and over 40 total. If I've got a kid with those numbers I'd almost welcome her to shoot 30 times a game. The fact is she does distribute the ball to others....she is just the best option nearly every time. Scoring at nearly 27 a game on 20 shots is excellent. After watching her play the last 3 to 4 years I'd say the only beef is that she gets protected by the officials a little more than most "star" players. As a BC fan even I see this but it's just the way things are. I'd also say that her turnovers are WAY lower than the other girls on this list. I'm a strong believer in if you are shooting the 3 ball consistently as a team....the kids shooting it must be at least a 33 percent or better shooter from range. Some kids realize this and don't hesitate in pulling the trigger...others are a little hesitant in letting it fly after a miss or 2....that's the difference in a good shooter or scorer and a "decent" shooter. Back to the point...20 shots a game isn't a high number considering the stats. See ya at the game tonight coach.

I see I'm a little tardy with my correction of the post stating that SW shoots 30 shots per game....it indeed is a little less than 20 per game....the breakdown is 9 2-point shots per game and 10 3-point attempts per contest. And of those she makes and average of 4 2-pointers and 4 3-pointers....That, in addition to the penetration which leads to either a layup or an open team mate, coupled with outstanding free throw shooting - I'll take it all day long.
