#2
BARBOURVILLE, Ky. – Union College came out of the gate like a bullet. Unfortunately, the Bulldogs were unable to keep pace with the sixth-ranked Blue Raiders of Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) in a 68-26 loss on Saturday as part of the Bingham Tire Gridiron Bowl.

The loss drops Union to 2-2 overall, while Lindsey Wilson improves to 3-0.
Taking the opening kick, Union marched down the field, needing only eight plays and 3:21 to post the game's first score. Using a good mix of run and pass plays, Izayah Riettie (SO/Lakeland, Fla.) capped the drive with a 4-yard scoring yard for a 7-0 lead with 11:39 left in the first.

Lindsey Wilson responded with a score its own, a 1-yard Blake Ingleton scoring run at the 8:38 mark in the first. The Blue Raiders attempted to run the ball in for the 2-point conversion, but Zak Mizell was stopped at the goal line, keeping the Bulldogs in front 7-6.

Union then put together a methodical, time-consuming drive to extend its lead to 13-6. Starting on their own 22, the Bulldogs reeled off 17 plays and ate up 8:16 off the clock. Ramses Hernandez (SO/Los Angeles, Calif.) punched the ball in from the 5. The PAT was blocked, keeping it a seven-point game with 22 seconds remaining in the first.

The game took a turn for the worse for Union in the second. Lindsey Wilson scored on its next three possessions in building a 25-13 lead. Meanwhile, Union's offensive rhythm hit a bump in the road when quarterback Alex Bell (SR/Daytona Beach, Fla.) left the game with an injury. Before exiting the game, Bell completed 5-of-8 passes for 85 yards.
Backup Kendrick Furness (JR/North Myrtle Beach, S.C.) got the Bulldogs back on the board when he hit Tyler Toombs (JR/Stone Mountain, Ga.), who weaved his way through the Blue Raider secondary for an 85-yard scoring play. Following the PAT, Union trailed 25-20 with 1:20 left in the half.

Lindsey Wilson, though, was not done scoring in the opening half. The Blue Raiders moved the ball down the field in break-neck speed to set up a Jared Doughtery 35-yard field goal, giving them a 28-20 lead at the half.

In the second half, Lindsey Wilson kept rolling on offense. The Blue Raiders posted 21 points in the third and 19 in the fourth in building a 68-20 lead.
Union closed out the game with Furness hitting Bradley Elkins (JR/Pikeville, Ky.) for a 2-yard pass as time expired, making the final 68-26.

Offensively, Union tallied 439 yards in total offense. Furness finished with 160 yards passing and two touchdowns. Toombs hauled in five passes for 134 yards. Hernandez led the ground attack with 82 yards on 11 carries.

Dylan Beasley completed 22-of-30 passes for 314 yards and four touchdowns for Lindsey Wilson. He also ran for 27 yards and another score.
