COLUMBIA, Ky. – No. 8-ranked Lindsey Wilson football outscored visiting St. Andrews (N.C.) 30-0 in the second half en route to a 43-7 win in the 2017 season opener on Saturday afternoon at Blue Raider Stadium.
The Blue Raiders led 13-7 at the half, after scoring just one offensive touchdown in a competitive first 30 minutes.

The Lindsey Wilson defense scored the first touchdown on the season with 2:49 left in the first quarter. A forced fumble by Joe Lewis was recovered by Tony Brackens and returned 32 yards for the Blue Raider touchdown and a 7-0 lead.
The Knights lone score on the day came on off a Lindsey Wilson miscue. Bernard Brown picked off a Dylan Beasley pass and returned it three yards for the score to tie the game at 7-7 at the 11:10 mark in the second half.

The Blue Raider defense then forced a three and out on the next Knights possession. Allen Cooks returned the St. Andrews punt 57 yards to the Knights' 25-yard line setting up a next-play touchdown from Beasley to Hunter Lovell, increasing the lead to 27-7 at the end of the third quarter.
In the fourth quarter the Blue Raiders scored 16 points on a Jared Dougherty field goal, a Cam Wyche 22-yard reception, and a TiCorion Williams one-yard rush.

The Lindsey Wilson defense did not allow an offensive score during the game while holding the Knights to 187 total yards of offense. Trent Mueller led the Blue Raider defense with 11 tackles on the day. C.J. Dickerson and Joe Lewis both had seven tackles during the game.
