Travelled all the way to Myrtle Beach to play 3 teams from the Ashland area and one from Central Kentucky? What's the point in that?

Hazard is on spring break, and these trips are about building chemistry. If you notice, all the teams from Kentucky play other teams from Kentucky while at the "cal ripken experience" in myrtle beach.

Usually much better weather. Team building as another poster said. Playing on incredible fields. Also, any team that keeps their kids in Kentucky all week and forces them to practice and play while their friends are enjoying spring break on a beach somewhere will probably lose a player or two. That last reason is the weakest of all of them but is the reality for high school kids teams these days.

The main reason? The kids like enjoy it. They raise every cent for every baseball, bat, grass seed, etc. they work concessions and do fund raisers all off season. Like many programs at small schools they get no money from the school board. It is entirely self funded through the kid's hard work. So if they want to raise a little extra to go to Myrtle Beach and play teams they normally don't, then so be it. Plus, as it's been said above, it allows the team to bond. It's a great experience.

It is a great experience, I experienced it 4 years in high school, 2 in Charleston SC and 2 in Myrtle Beach. I can't recall is ever playing another team from KY. I only brought it up because a lot of folks on here ripped Johnson Central last year about traveling to Florida to play teams from KY. Not saying it was any of you guys.

Pikeville played teams from Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Cincinnati and Tri-Cities TN this year at the Cal Ripken Experience at Myrtle Beach.

But Jet, just look at Pikevilles schedule. They haven't played anyone according to some baseball aficionados lol.
