West Jessamine 27 Harrison County 8

Friday night could not have been more beautiful for West Jess as they equaled their 2015 win total by whipping a very game Harrison County team,27-8. W-Jess scored 20 unanswered points and was never threatened afterwards.

Just :59 seconds into this on the West defense showed that they were ready, when Trajan Keaton blasted Maliek Powell, with the result being a 2 yard loss. :45 later it would be another big play for W-Jess, when Allen Horn forced a fumble by TC Abbott and he, Horn recovered the fumble.

Elijah Moore got the W-Jess offense going with a fine 14 yard gain, that could have gone for more if not for the fine tackle made by Drew Furnish, with 9:39 left in the opening quarter.
The three play 24-yard drive came to an end, with a 6-yard run by Horne, with 8:37 left in the quarter. The point after kick was blocked leaving this a,6-0 W-Jess lead.

W-Jess would force a turnover on downs, when Desmond James tipped a pass away from the Harrison County receiver, with 7:06 left.

The H-County defense got a nice play from, Oakie Barnes when he got to Horne for a three yard loss, at the 5:51 mark to force a 3rd and 12. On fourth and two with 4:24 showing on the clock, Horne picked up the first down and their was a 15-yard face masking penalty tacked on the run. Marcus Jones looked to have a 9-yard touchdown pass to Jamsey Swentzel, with 4:24 left, but a holding call negated the play. :13 seconds later W-Jess scored again, on a Jones to Horne 21-yard pass. Nate Chandler connected on the point after kick to make this a,13-0 game.

The W-Jess defense was at it again, with 1:53 left in the quarter. This time it was Chance Coffman sacking Ben Vanhook for a 5-yard loss.

Just :18 into the second quarter, W-Jess made this a 19-0 game, when Jones found Greer Stone from 11-yards out. The point after kick was hit by Chandler again.

At the 7:45 mark Jones found Greer for a 14-yard gain, Greer made a nice leaping catch as he showed off some nice skills. The drive died out a short time later, as the H-County defense recovered nicely.

Vanhook would suffer a sack by Jacob Humes, for a 3-yard loss, with 5:00 left in the half.

The third quarter had 7:36left in it when, Josh Jasper blasted Vanhook, who still found away to pick up 2-yards on the play.

With 6:15 left in the quarter H-County recorded a safety, when Malik Powell and company got to Jones. The score was now,20-2 W-Jess.

Vanhook raced up the gut of the W-Jess defense with 4:38 left in the quarter, for a big 17-yard pickup. The drive ended with a Vanhook finding Luke Slucher for a 31-yard score. The point after kick by,Chris Reyes short leaving this a,20-8 game.

:7 seconds into the final frame, Connor Marshall sacked Jones for an 11-yard loss and forced a turnover on downs.

W-Jess would register a sack on Vanhook by Jasper, with 10:24 remaining in the contest.

The sack parade continue again at the 10:11 mark of the 4th, when most of the defense from W-Jess pounced on Vanhook.

Stone would haul in a Jones pass, for a 16-yard game, with 8:35 left in the game. The drive faded away a short time later.

W-Jess defense was at it again, with 6:20 left. This time it would be Justin Chastain picking off a Vanhook throw.

:8 after the pick,Horne galloped downfield for a 14-yard run as he went to his left side. The 4-play, 34-yard drive ended with an 8-yard power run by,Horne. The point after kick made this a 27-8 game.

Another sack for W-Jess took place at the 4:07 mark of the quarter. Posting the sack was,Coffman on Vanhook.

With 1:42 left on a punt play, Kage Krupp used all of his being to crush Abbott and held him to zero return yards.

The last defensive play, that was very nice by W-Jess ends this story. The play was made by,Josh Ramey. Ramey hit Vanhook hard holding him to a very short gain.

painful loss for Harrison Co. Way to many errors on special teams...and way too many penalties. I believe HC was the most penalized team in the state last year. Already heading in that direction this year. Harrison is gonna struggle if they can't establish some type of running game.
