FAIR_GAME_FAN Wrote:Cordia came into the JBS games as the underdogs. They seem to be the underdogs in most games they play. Dont underestimate the talent of the team or the coach. Cordia doesnt go into games with the "big head" thinking they are going to blow everyone away. Its not because they arent a talented team, its because they are a small team and they dont take anything for granted. They know they have to stay focused on the game.Go back and look at Cordia's record this year, sure it isnt a winning one BUT they werent blown away by 30, 40 points ...in fact most of the game were single digit loses. Because Cordia is a small school they seem to be overlooked by just about everyone and some naturally assume when they play Cordia it is going to be an "easy" win. Most of the teams that Cordia play have a bench with enough players for 2 or 3 teams....Cordia is small and lucky to have enough players to even have a team. If you truly watch Cordia play basketball you will see those kids have heart...they come to play TEAM ball....its not about one or two players on the team showboating their way through a game to get their stats high......in all the games Cordia played this year, NEVER once has any of the other teams "cleared their benches".....Cordia needs to finish off their games, they stay close and even ahead until the last few minutes of the game....they tire out towards the end of the game because they give it their all during the game with a small bench for any relief. I think if all the Cordia players ran track and cross country to stay in shape then they would win more of the "close" games. I wish they were the "run and stun" lions that use to outrun any team they played. Honeycutt is a good coach, no matter what the records say, he DOES know how to coach and he doesnt have relatives on his team that he showboats....mentioning no names about this and dont mean to offend anyone but its MY opinion and I have a right to express it just like you all have expressed how you feel. Even without mentioning the names, I KNOW someone will blast this post back with something about the team I am referring to. I find it hilarious. No matter what anyone on here says....ANY team CAN beat ANY team on ANY given day/night. Luck? Bad luck, Good Luck???? Who knows???? I do know one thing and that is.....Dont come to play Cordia thinking you are going to blow them out of the gym...you may beat them and you may very well blow them out of the gym...but if you come into a gym thinking you are going to blow them away...then that may very well be the night that Cordia can beat you..that may be their "ANY GIVEN day/night"....Never underestimate the power of a small, but very united TEAM.... ( ANY SMALL TEAM, not just Cordia...I only used them as an example) Always be prepared, stay mentionally focused and play TEAM ball...
GOOD POST!!!!

thank you.....its just my honest opinion.....doesnt really mean a hill of beans but....its my opinion LOL!! Now being a Cordia fan.( I have to be lol...my grandfather helped build the original school...my family has contributed many many years to keeping the dream of Cordia school alive)...with JBS as a rival...and Hazard as an out of district school.....not really sure who Im rooting for LOL...I dont "hate" any school....I just hope the one who wins....wins it FAIRLY and that all the kids get a chance to contribute ..what is the sense of having a TEAM if only a few ( 2 0r 3) players from each team actually get their hands on the ball.....HAZARD and JBS.....play TEAM ball.....good luck to all the kids...and a prayer that NO kid gets injured during the game...NO GAME is worth a kid getting hurt.....GO BIG ( ummm still dont know who to cheer for LOL ) GO KIDS GO!!! May each team play with spirit, pride, heart, fairness, and to the best of their abilities!!!
