That's too bad, one of the most underused talents on the roster.

I feel he was underused as well...
But you'll always stay underused if you don't make the most of the spots they put you in.
I felt his run as "King Barrett" was weak and it wasn't just how he was booked.

Barrett had three major injuries throughout his WWE stay. How can you get utilized when you are on the shelf so often? He was a King of the Ring winner, and a five time IC title holder. All three of his injuries, two of which required surgery came when he was holding the IC strap. He's not even cleared to wrestle right now, yet they have him as part of an important faction where he is on television weekly. I don't see that he was under utilized at all. In 15 years, he will be a "What could he have been" story.

I was under the impression he was cleared right now, but I could be wrong.

In December, WWE had shelved him then when Dr.'s said his neck and back injuries could be very serious. I look at this as something similar to Daniel Bryan's situation. We heard for months how DB was getting cleared by every Dr. around the country, the WWE Dr.'s said no. All that time we heard DB say if WWE would not use him, he would like to be released to go work elsewhere. Based on DB's retirement, it was clear, the WWE was trying to protect him from himself, it was that SERIOUS. I see this situation with Wade as a similar situation. It could be looked at as the WWE is now truly caring of their workers and want to take care of them. OR - They don't want to be the one's who the media attacks for allowing a worker with known issues to be crippled in the ring - or CYA....
I look back all those years ago when Stone Cold hung them up, it was Vince who was telling him he has made more money than he can spend, go live life and do movies. I think this is the kinder, gentler VKM!

Bryan's situation, after hearing his ESPN interview, was a lot more serious that what I believe Barrett's to be.
That being said, I could see the WWE trying to protect Barrett and being slow getting him back into the rotation.
But honestly, there is only so much room on the roster for the upper-mid card and main-event level guys.
Barrett has had several big runs.
