Ohio State freshman JaQuan Lyle spoke with an NCAA investigator this week about his recruiting visit to Louisville in June 2013 and confirmed the gist of allegations involving paid escorts during his trip to the school, a source with knowledge of the NCAA's investigation told CBS Sports on Thursday morning.

"He told the truth," the source said.

The allegations were made in a book published last Friday night called "Breaking Cardinal Rules: Basketball and the Escort Queen." In it, Katina Powell, a self-described madam, writes that she took four escorts, at the request of former Louisville staff member Andre McGee, to do a "show" for a "new recruit named JaQuan Lyle."

"I took Rod-Ni, TooTall, Jazmine and Shay, who calls herself Sammi," Powell wrote in a journal entry. "TooTall made $100, Shay made $100, and Jazzy made nothing because she did absolutely nothing."

Lyle, just a couple of weeks after his visit, committed to Louisville but later de-committed. He subsequently planned to play at Oregon but ultimately landed at Ohio State.

Ohio State associate athletic director for communications, Dan Wallenberg, told Yahoo! Sports that the school is unconcerned about Lyle's eligibility.

"It does not affect us or JaQuan at all,” Wallenberg told Yahoo! Sports. "We've been told, and are pretty confident, this is not something we need to worry about."

The NCAA has also already interviewed former Louisville recruit Antonio Blakeney, according to sources. Blakeney is now at LSU. What he told the NCAA remains unclear.

Louisville's Rick Pitino has denied any knowledge of the 22 "shows" Powell claims she put on for players or recruits. McGee has not spoken publicly since the book's release.

Jaquan Lyle is one of the recruits named in Katina Powell’s book of allegations against the Louisville basketball program. Now a freshman at Ohio State, Lyle spoke to the NCAA yesterday and, according to CBSSports.com, confirmed the gist of allegations involving paid escorts during his trip to the school.

“He told the truth,” a source told Gary Parrish.

Lyle committed to Louisville in June of 2013, then decommitted two and a half months later. If he did indeed confirm what Powell wrote in her book, he could really hurt the Cardinals’ hopes of getting out of this alive.

The pieces are beginning to fall into place. Things aren’t looking good for Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The NCAA has talked with Ohio State freshman JaQuan Lyle, whose recruitment by Louisville is mentioned in a book by an escort alleging that strippers danced and had sex with Cardinals players and prospects.

OSU spokesman Dan Wallenberg confirmed via email that Lyle met Tuesday with the NCAA, as first reported Wednesday by Yahoo Sports. The email did not mention Louisville, but noted there were no issues at Ohio State.

Former Cardinals forward Chane Behanan didn't have much to say Wednesday about allegations in Katina Powell's book, "Breaking Cardinal Rules: Basketball and the Escort Queen," that he participated in shows paid for by former basketball staffer Andre McGee.

Behanan says, "all I know is what I've heard" in the book, in which he is pictured with Powell.

NCAA investigators interviewed Ohio State freshman JaQuan Lyle on Tuesday about his recruitment by Louisville, an Ohio State spokesman confirmed to Yahoo Sports.

Dan Wallenberg, Ohio State associate athletic director for communications, said the NCAA spoke with Lyle in regards to allegations made in a new book about potential rules violations within the Louisville basketball program. The book, “Breaking Cardinal Rules: Basketball and the Escort Queen,” was published last week. Co-author Katina Powell alleges that a Louisville staffer paid her to provide escorts to dance for and have sex with players and recruits.

Louisville and the NCAA are investigating allegations that could be major violations as well as illegal. As part of the investigation, NCAA staff met with Lyle on Tuesday, the day before Ohio State opened practice for the 2015-16 season

IBJ Book Publishing, which published Powell’s expose, provided Yahoo Sports with some text messages it had that purportedly were discussions between Powell and Louisville director of basketball operations Andre McGee. One of them referred to Lyle, who as a high schooler made an unofficial visit to Louisville in early June 2013.

This was Powell’s journal entry relating to a show allegedly done for Lyle:

“Been a long time since we’ve been up to U of L to do a show. McGee texted me like, what’s up? He wanted me to bring three girls up there for a new recruit named JaQuan Lyle, he and his friend. I took (escorts) Rod-Ni, TooTall, Jazmine and Shay, who calls herself Sammi. TooTall made $100, Shay made $100, and Jazzy made nothing because she did absolutely nothing."

On Monday, June 10, 2013, Powell allegedly texted McGee: “Hey Andre what was the name of the recruit the tall chic was with Saturday.” McGee allegedly responded: “jaquan lyles (sic) ... some other dudes is looking for tall chick.” The book says that was part of a 22-text exchange between Powell and McGee pertaining to Lyle’s visit.

On June 26, 2013, Lyle verbally committed to Louisville. By September he had de-committed. In June 2014, Lyle was included on the published roster at Oregon, but by September he was dropped from the roster and not enrolled at the school. He eventually committed to Ohio State on June 30, 2015.

Wallenberg said the school is not concerned about Lyle’s eligibility.

“It does not affect us or JaQuan at all,” Wallenberg said. “We’ve been told, and are pretty confident, this is not something we need to worry about.”

Lyle is at least the second non-Cardinal the NCAA has interviewed about being recruited by Louisville. LSU freshman Antonio Blakeney has been interviewed as well, according to multiple reports.

Patricia Keiffner, IBJ publisher, told Yahoo Sports that it had informed Louisville of the texts between McGee and Powell but did not show the texts to school officials.

“We suggested that they ask Andre for his phone because he would have information that Katina wouldn’t have as he made arrangements,” Keiffner said.

Neither Powell nor McGee have spoken publicly since the book was released Saturday.

What a tangled web we weave!!

I thought this had taken place about the time of Pitino's affair, but I was wrong.

Wonder what, if anything, will be sanctioned against Louisville.
