uh, we hear this on every thread about SV or any 15th region thread, let it go, we know there not playing any competition right now and so does everbody else. Besides Valley is bout to be playing the hardest part of their schedule now!!
#4
SV cant be #1 they havent played anyone good
#5
WHO CARES... SV is getting ready to play some tough competition, Paintsville is having their Hoops Classic with TONS of great competition, we will see what both teams are made of over the next week or two.
#6
1.Paintsville
2.Shelby Valley (giving them the benefit of the doubt at this point)
3.Pikeville
4.Belfry
5.Lawrence County
6.Allen Central
7.Magoffin County
8.Pike Central
9.East Ridge
10.Johnson Central (until McCarty is healthy again)
11.Phelps
12.South Floyd
13.Betsy Layne
14.Prestonsburg
15.Sheldon Clark
16.David School
17.Piarist

(Obviously a few of these teams could easily move a spot or two on a given week, but I am basing my current rankings on the season so far and on my own opinion as to the strength of each team right now)

I agree with this ranking. Shelby Valley hasn't played anyone to this point. Paintsville deserves to be #1 with their consistency. Johnson Central deserves to be #10 without McCarty. Belfry (being 4th) almost lost to JC 57-55 without McCarty. Maybe with him healthy, they may move up to 3rd or 4th.

JC is a better TEAM without McCarty

I would actually give the #1 spot to Paintsville. There schedule has been by far the toughest out of all the teams so far. They are playing excellent ball right now and playing these bigger teams like they already have can only make them better.

I dont find it that funny, they are a better team without McCarty... Period....

Ian Welch has stepped his game up in the absence of McCarty. When McCarty returns I wonder if he will have the games that he has had the past few?
#13
SF has a decent shedule for 06-07

I dunno what you mean by stepping up...but has gotten more opprotunities to shoot the ball. His field goal percentage is too low for him to be shooting layups. More shots...usually means more points.

Lost their last 3 games...Period...

The point is, JC is a TEAM without McCarty. WITH McCarty it's a one man show.

It's not that hard to figure out that with more chances, he could be more of a key player for JC than a role player for McCarty's misses or mistakes. Give it down low to the big guy more often and better things are to come for this team. If McCarty comes back and takes half of the team's shot like he did before the injury look for his point total to drop back in single digits. Joe Whittaker has had several big baskets the past few games and is a scrappy player. I hope they are all able to play the way they have the past few games without him, when he returns instead of it going back to the JM show.

They probably lost even worse with him... You cant beat good squads like irqouis, Ashland, an Belfry by yourself...

I didn't think this was a JC thread. However, IMO JC obviously needs McCarty who is their best player. But the success of JC will depend on whether Starnes can get McCarty and the JC team to play within the TEAM concept. If he can they should be very solid come tourney time. You can't have a one-man show and win consistently, especially against better teams.

EKY I'm not trying to turn this into a JC thread, sorry if I did. All I am trying to say when McCarty returns and JC utilizes Welch the way he has been during McCarty's absence then I think JC will be better off and look for them to rise in the poll.

You fans, all you want to do is get on here and have a pissing contest. Shelby Valley hasn't been beat yet and Paintsville has lost I believe 3 games. How can you put them first. If you people don't like my thread don't read it. I'm a East Ridge Warrior fan and you don't see me putting them first. Come on people grow up and attend some games and keep up with 15th region basketball!!!

It has nothing to do with wins and losses IMO. It has to do with how well you play against tougher competition. Clearly Paintsville has played a tougher schedule and have done pretty well with it. Sv has played nobody and run up the score on them. Take this for what it is worth and run with it. My vote right now goes to Paintsville. I don't even like Paintsville that much, and my dad is in the Hall of Fame at SV. So there is bias in my choice. It has to do with how you play against good competition.

Nice list KM!
I think ERBLUE has a pretty good handle on the 15th region...It's December and this list will get rattled a little before March but it's good talking stuff.

This is true. BUT, The 3 teams were Bryan Station, Henry Clay and a 5or6A team out of Florida. They also beat the #5 2A team in Florida and beat another 5or6A team while there. I would rather loose close games to teams of that caliber than win against teams such as David, Piarist, OBI and HYUABUSASABIWABA, VA! Please

I like the list ER, but 1 and 2 will probably be argued over all season since these two teams are not playing in the regular season. The team Paintsville lost to from Florida was coached by a former Kentucky Wildcat, can't remember his name, but I heard they had several monster dunks against Paintsville down there. Paintsville has lost to two highly ranked KY teams and a solid team from Florida. I think that is why most people like them at number one because of their SOS. Black Claw, JC has lost 5 games in a row, not 3.

Shelby Valley is NUMBER 1
#27
Shelby Valley and Paintsville are the top two teams in the region. Either of those teams could be beaten on a given night by the second tier teams; J.C. Magoffin, Lawrence, Pikeville, Belfry, and Pike Central. Any of the second tier teams could be beaten by anyone else in the region with the exception of Piarist and David.

I agree, when does JC and Paintsville play, anybody know
