Teams with 3 or less wins in the playoffs
#1
During football season, people complain about teams with 0, 1 or 2 wins making the playoffs..... and, IMO, that is wrong. Post-Season play is something that needs to earned and not entitled. In doing the research, their are several teams with 4, 5 and 6 wins.... but I didn't want to put them on this particular list.

Region 1:
Fulton City (3-18) District 1

Region 2:
Dawson Springs (2-23) District 7
Fort Campbell (3-18) District 8

Region 3:
No teams

Region 4:
Metcalfe County (2-24) District 16

Region 5:
Washington County (2-23) District 19

Region 6:
No teams

Region 7:
No teams

Region 8:
No teams

Region 9:
No teams

Region 10:
No teams

Region 11:
Western Hills (3-27) District 41

Region 12:
Burgin (3-28) District 46
McCreary Central (1-23) District 48

Region 13:
Red Bird (3-14) District 49

Region 14:
Riverside Christian (3-23) District 55
Owsley County (3-24) District 56

Region 15:
Piarist School (3-19) District 58

Region 16:
Fairview (3-23) District 64
Rosehill Christian (3-23) District 64

This list IS NOT intended to put any of these teams on front street... cause I know all of these played hard all season. I'm simply making the case that post-season play needs to be earned and not entitled. BTW, none of these teams won their first round district game.

Western Hills was eliminated in the opening round of the district. Franklin Co and Woodford Co advanced from that district. Also, Red Bird was eliminated in the district, as was Piarist and Riverside. You may want to do a bit more research.

What do you mean rojas.... none of the teams I listed won a game in their district tournament.

You need to "a bit more research" :welcome:

^ I misread your post. I thought you were trying to list teams that had 3 wins are list but were still in the playoffs.

Personally, I think with all the consolidation in the last couple decades, it is time to do away with district tournaments. I would like to expand regionals to include all teams. The tournaments could be seeded. The #1 team plays the #16 team first round, #2 plays #15 and so on and so forth.

Don't' exactly see your point. Even at the college level, if you win your conference doesn't matter how many games you won you still move on to the NCAA tournament. The way I see it is if a powerhouse team can't beat a team with 3 or less wins in first round of districts they don't deserve to move on. It's march madness. But Rojas idea of just having a regional tournament with seeding and skipping districts is not a bad one.

Doesn't take week to eliminate them, one night they are done - district/region tournament is done in 2 weeks, they are also not on a bus for 3-4 hour to take a butt kicking.

Apples and oranges comparison.

Letting everyone in the region is also terrible. You make everyone play everyone 2 times? You seed by computer rankings?

Also not exactly like football. Really you would go 0-9 wins since bball season has three times the games.

Most regions are held at central locations. At worst 1 1/2 bus ride to a higher seeds gym. I think it would be a great idea and draw like you do using regular season seeds.

Yes, I know that High School Boys Basketball is the crown jewell of the KHSAA.... And yes, I know the Boys Sweet 16 is "The Greatest Show in Hoops"

Teams are 9-10 games (2-3 at districts, 3 at regionals and 4 at the Sweet 16) away from winning the state championship. That doesn't sound like a lot, but the football plays offs are 5 weeks long. Thats 5 wins away from a state championship. So in football, an 0-10 team can enter the post-season. win 5 games in a row and win the state championship..... that is wrong. How weak does that make our high school athletic programs look. I can just see the news headline now...... "An 0-10 team in the regular season wins the KY state title" It may sound impossible for that to happen, but with the 6 class system we have now, it isn't outside the relm of possibility.

I guess the point I was trying to make is that 14 teams with 0-3 wins got at least one post-season game.... and like I said in post #1, there are several teams that had 4 and 5 wins that I didn't list.

Players and coaches know no matter how bad they play in the regular season, they will have a post-season game.

What is the drive to want to win district/region games in the regular season if you know your going to get in to the post-season regardless of your record.

And yes, I do realize some schools have very low attendance numbers.... several schools that are listed are class A or AA.
