Great win for the Hornets is very hard to beat a team 3 times, I thought the hornets played hard all night. Great win for a young team .

This was a fun game to watch. Pville couldn't get their shots to fall in the third and a costly T late in the 2nd half hurt but they couldn't capilitlze on some big free throws down the stretch. already setting up to be a fun tourney. Pitts had a good night I look for JC to be able to put a little more pirimeter D or at least taller defenders to make those long jumps shots tougher to siink I liked te other big kid from magoffin as well he gave them a few big baskets.

You've rode this team, their style and primarily their PGs hard all year. It was a down year, some of it was with Paintsville's youthful talent and some of it was with the injury bug. That happens from time to time at small schools. If you thought this team would be similar to the 86-88 teams or the 95-98 clubs you were set up for disappointment from the get go. I saw this bunch play once this year and thought there were a lot of bright spots in the lineup going forward. A lot to look forward to, especially after they get Kash, Phelps and Miller back in the lineup next season. More depth provides the ultimate coach, the bench. Any individual that strictly looks at wins and losses from this season won't see the brighter picture. The team coming back next season will be a Top 5 club in the 15th.
By the way, I really hope you write a "How To Play Team Ball" or a "Chicken Soup for the Soul: Team Work" book in the near future. You are so knowledgeable about the topic, I figured who else could I learn all this wisdom from to implement into my future buddy ball teams from none other than Mr. God Speed. The Godfather of Team Ball. Maybe under your tutelage and book of blueprints, I can win a few championships. I'm honestly surprised that a high school hasn't snatched you up as some type of special assistant to teach the art of team play. You must have got in Norman Dale's ear and caused him to implement the 5 pass rule for Hickory High. I'll be sure to keep an eye out at Barnes and Nobel in the future.

Looks like pretty even scoring to me across the board.

Well Dale answer me one question how did the one player offense work out this season? Try watching a game or two maybe, even you can learn about the game then we'll talk.

It appeared to me that Paintsville had a game plan, pentrate and let their guards use their strength to try to score. Pretty good job L. Trimble played well hit some very tough shots with good defensive pressure from Lovely, L. Dainels battled good defensive pressure from Bolen all night. Hensely simply cannot score on Pitts, Collins not going to get his set shot off, Literall did not play bad. I think Paintsville game planning was solid but so was Defense of Magoffin. In the end one or two mistakes cost Paintsville and Magoffin took advantage and hit free throws at the end.

Did that plan include one player plays? No. Moving the ball wins games

I guess you can't read either, I said I went to a game. Hell, OffTheHook saw me there and I talked to many people. Which one was that OTH, Allen Central? Paintsville's game had to rely on perimeter play and guards slashing because they have NO INSIDE PRESCENCE. Their bigs were very limited in their offensive skills. If you think one of them is good enough to make it to the next level then you are sorely mistaking. Neither of them are comparable to a Stuart Rutledge or a Shane Grimm. Missing 6'5 and 6'4 players hurt them this year but things will improve once Miller and Kash return. Then you will get the size and athleticism back on the blocks. As I said, if you read that, Paintsville will be much better next season when they return. If you were looking at W-L's this year after all the injuries and youth on this team you were setting yourself up for disappointment.

I didn't have the opportunity to watch this team a lot during the season but I have to agree with a lot of what Dale has said. This team lacked athletes and I don't mean that in a bad way, but in a normal season, especially with the three named players had not be injured, several players that played minutes would have never hit the floor. I like the way Luke Daniels played, I thought he was a bright spot. I can picture him and Phelps at the guards, Trimble at the 3 spot, Miller at the 4 and Kash in the 5 spot. Hensley coming off the bench to rotate with Miller and Daniel and hopefully coach would find that 7th and 8th guy to fill the rotation.
Maybe the biggest problem was players excepting their roles. Not everyone is a scorer, you need rebounders, defensive stoppers, guys that can press, guys that come in for two or three minutes to rest someone...these are role players, these are the guys that make or break your team.

The 15th is the worse region, top to bottom, in the entire state. Being one of the top 5 is nothing to brag about. :redboxer:

I agree, but it is definitely better than where they are sitting at right now. I could have said best, which is also possible, but tried to play it safe.

^Much better than this year. Come on gs15. You know with those guys healthy we're one of top teams in Region. We'd be battling for District and Regional Championship. NO DOUBT in my mind.

The good thing about this game was seeing the Paintsville boys play hard and not quit after their coach quit on them. When Paintsville was down by 13 late in the 4th he just quit coaching. The kids took it upon themselves and played with a lot of heart and did not quit.Coach Runyon looked like he was ready to call it a season but the kids sure weren't ready to be done.Good job Paintsville boys.

âRelax, all right? Donât try to strike everybody out. Strikeouts are boring! Besides that, theyâre fascist. Throw some ground balls â itâs more democratic.â
