I'm not aware of what has happened....what is going on? Something with one of Rockcastle's kids?

Well....I found out when my son got home from football practice what happened. The kid sits next to him in his AP History class. I reckon he is in Lexington at UK hospital and my prayers go out to him. Sort of puts things into a different perspective.

How many upperclassmen is rock playing now?? I've heard they are playing more underclass men now than they did at the start of the season.

Looking at a roster....best I can figure Rockcastle plays 13 upperclassman either one way or both ways.

So? Bell County has started several freshman over the years. Corbin starts one this year. I watched Breathitt play Wayne one time in the playoffs and Wayne had 7 freshman playing. Sometimes they are the best you have.

Not in this case it isnt. There are better upperclassmen and they are not getting a chance. No development of players, we are 3-15 over the last 2 years. We need a coach to develop the players and take us a different direction.

So the existing coach bypasses better players so that people can get mad and possibly get him fired. Hhhhhhuuuuummmm. That makes perfect sense. Rockcastle is a proud football program. I'd say they are doing everything they can to win a game.

I didn't say anything except about how many upperclassmen started in my estimate. I don't care WHO starts...as long as they win or play hard in losing no matter what the score. The laying down when the chips are down is my major complaint. That drives me crazy because I can't stand to watch a quitter!

Better players are being bypassed, bypassed as in not being taught or developed. The older kids could be better if worked with and not thrown to the side like they have been and yes rockcastle used to be a proud football program, not anymore.
as papagrit said, yes kids lay down and quit, i think its because the older kids know the coach has quit to work on next year, and if so he should quit or be fired for doing that.

The thing is if you win Friday night you could finish second in the district, get a home playoff game and change the outlook of the season. That's where your energy should go. Coaches do not bypass players if they think they can help a team win unless they are doing something away from the program that hurts the team. My advice is that if the older players want to play strap it up and whip the freshman's tail in practice and take their spot.

Do you not understand, the older kids dont get a chance in practice and yes they are being bypassed.

It doesn't matter who plays if they are the best at that given position. When it matters is when who's your family come in the picture. That is what's wrong it shouldn't matter who your family is if you play or not.

KC should win big.

Our schedule has done little to prep us though. Three of our 5 wins come against winless teams. And the other two have won about 3 games between them. Beating RC will do little to add to that issue. And the next two will be a different story altogether in terms of quality of opponent.

I hope RC gets back to a better place soon. Great folks from that neck of the woods who deserve a Friday night seeing their sons giving their best four quarters with a coach and a scheme that they believe in. Best to you Rock as you work to build back. Just don't make too much progress Friday.

Many in Knox thought going in this was the toughest schedule we have ever had, boy was we ever wrong.

I was one of those who thought this was going to be a tough schedule and was wrong. Did quick math and if we beat RC Friday the combined record of our 8 opponents is 16 wins and 41 losses. Bell and HC are the only two teams we have played with winning records and both them are only in that column by one game with 4-3 records each.

The challenge with this is obviously Russell County stands between KC and a District banner. They have not played a very tough schedule either but it is better than ours and they have only lost one game. Corbin hasn't either but they have only lost to Wayne who will make a run for a 3A crown this year. So we will come into those games with no win against a winning team which makes it impossible to have confidence in what has worked against weaker teams offensively or defensively.

KC has to come into our this Rock game with the attitude that it is for a state championship and do their best to improve as much as possible. RC always plays us tough and KC should expect nothing less. And if RC does us the favor of playing hard for four quarters and making KC earn the W - KC may be better off as that will do more to prep KC for Russell county.

See you there. My older son is flying in from college for the game tonight. Maybe we will stretch a jersey over him again to help out his little brother. Football1--you might let Football2 know if they haven't already talked.

Funny there mr new screename. I have put as much time and sweat into KC football as any 3 people in Knox county. I was not being critical. You clearly missed the point of my post. I don't care who we play in years to come. My commentary was on the misconception that we all had coming into this year's schedule that is was going to be tough. Simply put - it has been very weak. My secondary point, should you care to read on, was my concern that our unexpected ease through the previous games could be a liability as we face sterner opposition. I hope that clears it for you...

I suppose in additional posts instead of illuminating viable concerns regarding the state of preparation for our team I should simply paste in those pom poms and a loud and vociferous cheer? How about you take the time to actually read a post and provide thoughtful response to what it means instead of your wrong perception? Novel idea, huh?

PapaG! I look forward to seeing you and the highly esteemed older son. Mine gets off work at 7 and will be sliding in just about kick-off time. I can't help but remember the epic wars those two had - that was great football! Football2 will be happy to see his friend for sure.
