6 “swing” games

Analysis
Nobody is talking about Maryland, but I think they have a legit shot to win this division of the ACC…

Ralph Friedgen is a great coach, three straight 10 win seasons before struggling in the last two, I think it’s time they start winning big again….

Sam Hollenbach will lower his INT’s this year (he had 15 last year), and if he can keep his high completion percentage, I think he’ll make a run for the all-ACC team…

Call me crazy, but I see them edging FSU in this division by beating the Noles at home in late October…..

Florida St.

Nov. 18 W. Michigan W

Nov. 25 Florida W

10-2 overall (6-2 conference)
5 “swing” games

Analysis
Florida St. will never contend for a national title as long as Jeff Bowden is calling offensive plays….

Forget the Miami game, the most important game of the year for this team is the Maryland game on the 28th, it’s going to determine who goes to the ACC championship game…

Drew Weatherford threw over 450 times last year, that’s outrageous for a freshman QB. Another reason why Jeff Bowden is an idiot…

Florida St. has a nice team, but they aren’t much better than Maryland, and I think the terps will get them in College Park….

Clemson
Head Coach: Tommy Bowden (70-37 overall)

Last season: 8-4 (beat Colorado 19-10 in Champs Sports Bowl)

Oct. 26 at Virginia Tech W

Nov. 4 Maryland W

Nov. 11 NC State W

Nov. 25 South Carolina W

9-3 overall (5-3 conference)
6 “swing” games

Analysis
Clemson always losses two or three games they have no business losing. I think this is going to cost them in the race for the ACC title….

The schedule does them no favors, as they have to go to BC, FSU, and V. Tech…..

Tommy Bowden is a solid coach, he’s not his dad (no comparison), but he’s guaranteed to get you 7 or 8 wins just about every single season….

I would have picked Clemson to win this division, but the road games are outrageous and they probably will lose a game or two they shouldn’t…..

N.C. State

Head Coach: Chuck Amato (46-28 overall)

Last season: 7-5 (beat South Florida 14-0 in Tire Bowl)

# of returning starters: 10 (5 offense, 5 defense)

Nov. 4 Georgia Tech L

Nov. 11 at Clemson L

Nov. 18 at North Carolina W

Nov. 25 East Carolina

6-6 overall (3-5 overall)

5 “swing” games

Analysis
North Carolina St. has to replace three defensive players that were first round draft picks. That’s a huge order, especially when you consider that the three players combined for 26.5 sacks….

The offense has been dreadful since Rivers left in 04, last year they only averaged 17 points per game against conference foes….

Chuck Amato is a great defensive coach, and he has been able to stockpile his teams with talented speed rushers. This year there recruiting class was way down… Justin Burke probably was their best recruit….

N.C. State will win 5 or 6 games, they will be a bubble bowl team….

Boston College
Head Coach: Tom O’ Brien (66-42 overall)

Last season: 9-3 (beat Boise St. 27-21 in MPC Computers Bowl)

# of returning starters: 12 (6 offense, 6 defense)

Returning Leaders:
Passing: Matt Ryan (121-195, 1514 yards, 8 TD, 5 INT)

Rushing: LV Whitworth (189 att, 847 yards)

Receiving: Tony Gonzalez (28 rec, 414 yards)

Tackles: Jamie Silva (87)

Sacks: Nick Larkin (6)

Oct.12 Virginia Tech L

Oct. 21 at Florida St. L

Oct. 28 Buffalo W

Nov. 4 at Wake Forest W

Nov. 11 Duke W

Nov. 18 Maryland L

Nov. 25 at Miami FL. L

7-5 overall (3-5 conference)
5 “swing” games

Analysis
Boston College has won 6 straight bowl games, they are never the best team in their conference, but they certainly are feared…..

Tom O’Brien has done a fantastic job. He has been mentioned for other jobs but has been loyal to B.C, and that is something they should be proud of…

The team is pretty well rounded, but again they don’t have one star that can step up and win them a game on the road against a quality team…

B.C. could miss a bowl this year in all honesty, but that bowl streak isn’t a fluke, and they’ll find a way to go dancing in late December….

Wake Forest
Head Coach: Jim Grobe (59-65-1)

Last season: 4-7 (no bowl)

# of returning starters: 19 (9 offense, 10 defense)

Returning Leaders:
Passing: Ben Mauk (85-158, 845 yards, 1 TD, 6 INT)

Rushing: Micah Andrews (110 att, 649 yards)

Receiving: Nate Morton (39 rec, 482 yards)

Tackles: Jon Abbate (77)

Sacks: Matt Robinson (4.5)

Interceptions: Josh Gattis (5)

Schedule/Projected W-L Record
Sept. 2 Syracuse W

Sept. 9 Duke W

Sept. 16 at UCONN L

Sept. 23 at Mississippi L

Sept. 30 Liberty W

Oct. 7 Clemson L

Oct. 14 at N.C. State L

Oct. 28 at North Carolina W

Nov. 4 Boston College L

Nov. 11 at Florida St. L

Nov. 18 Virginia Tech L

Nov. 25 at Maryland L

4-8 overall (2-6 conference)
5 “swing” games

Analysis
Jim Grobe has done a very nice job at a place where it’s hard to win year in and year out. Having Wake Forest at 4-6 wins a year on a regular basis isn’t the easiest thing to do…

They bring back 19 starters, but they’ll really miss Chris Barclay. He was a beast of a running back, gaining over 1200 yards last year.. They’ll need to find a replacement fast…

I really think Wake Forest could surprise some people and land themselves in a bowl game, the bad thing is they’ll need to win 6 games by the end of October, cause they are looking at a winless November…

Wake Forest really isn’t as bad as 4-8, but the schedule doesn’t allow them much breathing room, and they’ll miss out on a bowl for the fourth year in a row…
