Is Holcomb really leaving breathitt?
#1
For Letcher Central?
#2
No.
#3
No one from Breathitt will admit that he is no matter what.

We'll have to wait and see
#4
I don't know but I don't see him leaving Breathitt. Been there too long.
#5
A little birdie tells me it is 50-50.
#6
I hope you are right.

No

It's up in the air. I don't think it is 50/50, more like 65/35 staying IMO.

This may turn into a long drawn out wait for LCC if they let it. There have been a couple things happen in the last couple weeks that are making it more likely he will leave.

If Holcomb does leave, Breathitt must reach out to Justin Haddix at PCC. Haddix would be an excellent hire. He knows the game, and the kids play thier hearts out for him. Haddix would bring some much needed positive energy to the bobcat football program.

I say he is gone......... might not be to LCC in the end but he will be goin somewhere... With the state in and his inability to run the school district from the bobcat den, thats my reasoning..... Believe that...!

There is talk that a announcement might be Friday. Don't know if it is true. Applications and recommendation have been given to SBDM and there is talk that a decision will come this week. With the girls basketball still playing in region, they want to get it done in case they loose so they can get started on spring practice. If the girls win and go to state that gives them another week.

Your not getting Holcomb, he's too smart to get in that GOM, I promise you. Why not just hire Larry Maggard? Seriously he is already in the building, he has head coaching experience. IMO the man has been done pretty unfair around there. Hire Larry, hire the Howard guy as an assistant. The answer is right in front of them. Give Maggard a shot, why not???

Halcomb to LCC. Double Dip on his salary. Cant blame the guy. He still loves his football.

I'd say Kyle Moore will take Halcombs place on the thrown at Breathitt. Haddix would be great but Kyle probably would be to.

Spring practice not done that way now. Schools have more options when it is done.

If Holcombe leaves Moore will be the new coach. Budget is tight and the state is not going to hire someone not already on the payroll. Moore is already teaching Health/PE at the high school and is more than capable of leading the football team. Under normal circumstances Haddix would be an option and would be considered.

From what I personally saw last night at region I say Holcomb is gone. He was with the whole LCC football staff practically the whole time, had the super intendent there sucking his ass, along with some LCC players talking to him. I didn't see Holcomb have much contact with his BHS staff that was there at the game, or any Breathitt administrators for that matter. It could have been nothing, but imo I think he is gone. Guess we will have to wait and see though!

If he goes, good luck to him. He has brought a lot to the community as far as pride in his time there. I wish him the best whatever he does.

You could be right. OTOH, I believe Holcomb has been pretty tight with Oz, Hillard, and a couple of the assts. for years. Maybe he was just "visiting" old friends.lol.

Word around town, Dudley Hilton may be on the sidelines for the bobcats once again.

I don't think they have enough money for all that. Dudley don't come cheap and in the school's current financial situation this isn't happening.

I guess Holcomb needs to leave first in order for this to happen correct? Or did this happen already?

There is talk around that he is taking it. Don't know for sure. Would like to see Terry Howard to come up there. I am telling you guys, over half the young men that came to LCC in the past five years would tell you what kind of person Terry is. Say what you want, some of these young men would love to come and play for him. I work with one right now that said he was more of a father figure than his real father was. He will be there for the kids and is great with parents and the community. Bringing him with any coach would be a great addition to his staff and push these kids the right way.

If he retires, the name stays. If he takes the LCC job, the name comes down that day.

Yeah, that what I would do to someone who won three state championships. Sad sour grapes to do that to someone. You need to blame the people who put there hands in the money and caused the state to come in and take over. Did they say who was doing it?

If Holcomb leaves, there shouldn't be a name change with the stadium. Holcomb has coached at Breathitt for over thirty years and he has won three state championships. He and John Paul Chapman put Breathitt County on the map in the mid 90's. Although, it would be disappointing to see him "bail out" on the program due to the state takeover, I feel like a change is needed with the program. I feel like a younger, more enthusiastic coach is needed to bring the excitement back to Breathitt County football.
#28
If coach takes the LCC job I wish him nothing but the best! Might even have to make a trip or two up to watch a game of his at LCC. As far as the stadium being renamed, that is ridiculous. The man has lived and breathed Breathitt Football for over thirty years. He helped build the one good thing Breathitt County has had over the past thirty years, it would not only be a slap to his face, but to all Breathitt County Residents who have supported the football program over the years.

Holcomb would be taking a step backwards if he took the LCC job. He's the king of Jackson. We have seen how LCC handled their previous coaches.
