Jackson led for most of the first half, sounds like they just ran out of steam. Seems like they're finally doing better though. Heard that Jackson fans were told that if they stand up they would be tossed? And one fan refused to sit and was escorted out by police. Anyone know what was going on?

I was told by several at the game and even one Owsley Co. fan that Jackson was beating the Owls by 10 or more late in the 2nd quarter when a non-school administrator tried to make Jackson's fans sit down and be quiet and even got the local police to make a fan leave because he said it wasn't right to make their fans set down. These fans were mostly parents and grandparents of the players. Said it just took the wind out of their sails for the second half. Such a poor strategy and game plan. Just play the darn game.

Well the truth is, there was a tussle between two players at midcourt with some posturing. A fan from Jackson City stood up and came down to court level (not on the court but the last step before you get to the court) and stood there. School personal went to him and told him to sit down and in all his wisdom he decided to fight the law and we all know how that goes. I don't think the fan did anything wrong other than head toward the court. In this day and time that will not be allowed in any venue. And don't forget, one of Owsley's players parents were thrown out of a Jackson City game last year for just complaining a call, didn't even get out of his seat.

Looks like a little payback on the part of Owsley Co.!!!!

The fan came down the about 5 rows of bleacher seats and was right behind Jackson City's bench, and close to the scorers table, pointing and shouting at the officials. One of the refs nodded and pointed for the AD to address the issue. He approached the man and asked him to calm down and basicly go back to his seat, being that he was standing right behind the Tiger's bench making a commotion toward the refs. Evidently he refused to cooperate and the AD had him removed from the gym. But the whole incident was started at a request of one if the referees.
After that another man from Jackson told the AD that next year when anyone from Owsley said a word during the game at Jackson that they would be tossed from the gym. He said he was a police officer there. He might have been someone just upset and making the police thing up but whoever he was he surely has been to enough games to know if a ref asked an administrator of a school to address an issue in the crowd that they must do it. Bottom line is the fan should have cooperated and gone back to his seat. Anytime a fan runs down and gets right behind the area where the refs are making their call to the scorers table there is usually going to be repercussions.

Bus garage worker is hardly a school administrator. Well, it is Owsley Co.

Also the officials have done apologized to members of the school that they had nothing to do with the ejection of the fan and asking Jackson fans to remain seated at all times or they would be thrown in jail. There was absolutely no request from the officials. This is totally bogus. Just red necking and someone with the little man syndrome is all that occurred.

One man has three job titles in Owsley Co. Schools system!!!

He's the Athletic Director!!!

He's over what happens in the gym during sporting events. Yes, he is an athletic adminstator/director.
And is is also transportation director for Owsley County schools, hardly a "bus garage worker". Owsley is a small system and sometimes people have multiple positions.

If you work in a hospital you are a hospital worker. If you work at Walmart you are a Walmart worker. So I say bus garage worker and that's final. AD can't make fans stop cheering for their teams regardless of what county it is. State law covers all 120 counties. Even the 120th one Owsley.

And they told your school members the truth. They had nothing to do with the ejection (although they have thee power to do that). But there absolutely was a "request from the officials" that the AD address the issue that was going on behind the bench with the fan. The man was hollering and pointing when they came over to give their call to the scorekeepers. One of the refs looked at the AD and nodded his head and pointed in the direction of the man behind the Jackson bench. That is not bogus. that is fact. And when the AD tried to talk to the man and ask him to calm down and go back to where he was sitting, he was non-compliant and belligerent. So he was removed. The refs are accurant in they did not request the fan to be removed from the gym, but after the AD tried to reason with him and saw he was getting nowhere, he then made that decision.
If the official told you what you say here, then he, or they, are are either misleading you or are having a tempory case of amnesia. That's not uncommon for officials to not want to stir up things anymore than they are, since it was all over and done with by the time they were supposely talked to by your people. Officials know that coaches vote and rate referees. They probably just wanted it to go away. It's not the end of the world. Fans get tossed occasionally, especially when they decline a request to be orderly at games. Cheering ones team to victory is one thing; running down five rows of bleachers to shout and point fingers at officials is another.

Your definition of "cheering" is a little different from the average fan.
What if everyone on that side of the gym in the Jackson section had joined the man in question and ran down five or six rows of seats and got behind the bench next to the scoretable and started screaming and hollering, pointing fingers at officials, etc. It would have been a real scene and difficult to finish a ball game. Fortunately all fans don't do that. Owsley is not exempt. They have had to toss a few of their own fans from the gym for similar situations in the past.

And by the way, the AD does not "work" at the school bus garage. He is over the workers there, and the transportation details in the district. His office is at the Board of Education, not the school bus garage.

I'd like to correct a bit of exaggeration here.

The fan that was thrown out didn't "run down 5 rows of bleachers". He started the game directly behind the scorer's table, along with several members of his family. He didn't even move a step to get where he was. Also, the AD certainly didn't try to "reason" with him or anyone else. The AD told him and everyone else, with much finger pointing, "We're getting control of this game and you sit down or you're leaving!" He then told the LEO's that "he's leaving and if she says another word she's leaving too!", referring to a female fan.

There weren't more than 15 or 16 JCS fans in the whole house, and even if everyone of them were standing it shouldn't have presented a problem. If the particular fan was abusive, then sure, make him leave, but why point and gesture at the rest of us and tell us to sit down or leave? That's a gross over reaction, and one that should have left the AD embarassed.

The fans were upset that a JCS player had gotten a forearm to the chest by an Owl while the ref was talking to the two of them, and somehow a double technical was called. I don't condone abusive language to the refs, but I certainly didn't hear any of that, and if a ref can't take some heat from the fans he needs to find another way to spend his evenings. At any rate, the ref in question is LE himself and he says the refs didn't see any of this coming and that it all came from the AD.

It'll all blow over soon enough but I hope the AD conducts himself a little better in the future, for the school's sake.

Owsley county is a good team, but i think the tigers could beat them is they got ahold of them at home. From what i have heard they have been hustling hard the last few games.
