Tough loss for the Pirates on the road in OT. Gotta keep improving and develop 3 shooters. Betsy Layne has a tough team, Meade is still a ball player. Messer had a good game and a nice dunk off the oop.

Tony Messer is a very good player. He needs to get the ball more. Betsy Layne did not have the size to stop him when he got the ball in the low post. Betsy Layne has a typical Junior Newsome coached team. They are small but play agressive defense and shoot the ball pretty well. They can give anyone trouble at times but are subject to losing when they are playing a really good rebounding team. They are playing better each game and will take a good effort to defeat them.

Belfry still has to come together, the FULL TEAM with Messer, Robinson, Johnson, Carr, and some others has only practiced together since December 4th. Gotta grow. We may take some now, but hopefully it pays off come tournament time. Can't tell you the last time I saw a Belfry player get a GOOD two handed dunk in a meaningful game, Messer would have had two but got fouled (unintentionally of course) ... love watching any kid who can throw one down. Belfry's young guys put in a little work and get better they can provide depth, if our 3 point shooters start hitting then we can be a great team.
