It was ugly

Yes. It was ugly, but my hat's off to Tony for scheduling Trinity. Most 13th region team don't play outside of the mountains a lot.

Wow is an understatement. What happened. Peace be among us. Brother Cecil.

I would assume that Trinity would do this to every other team in the 13th region as well though.
#7
That's pretty embarrassing to put it kindly.. How do they get beat down so badly??? Are they that bad or what???

There is that much difference in the top teams in the state and the teams in the 12-16 regions.

It looked like Corbin had not seen that kind of full court pressure before. I bet they turned it over twenty times in the first half. I think they were down like 30 at half. Trinity has a nice team and when they get James Quick in a couple of weeks they will be a really tough team to handle.
#10
Used to seeing Corbin on the other end of these type of scores. This also goes to my statement earlier that the 13th is way down this year. I know Trinity is real good but Corbin is normally competitive with anybody.

Easy hoss..
IDK about 12-16..
Maybe 12, 13, 15 and 16..

but not 12-16.

Harlan County IMO can play with anybody in the state, with the emergence of their 6'6" sophomore center (Tyler Miller) and the development of their other sophomores that give them great depth to back up their Senior dominated starting 5

When was the last time the 14th won a championship?

Shelby Valley (15th) and South Laurel (12th at the time) are the only two schools in the last 15 years, maybe longer to win a championship.

They might compete with some schools, but the mountains havent fared so well against the rest of the state when it comes to basketball.

can someone tell me when was the last time a 13th region team won a game in the sweet 16 state tournament ?

Mike Jones must disagree with you. Otherwise, he would have beefed up his schedule a little.

Yep. In 2007 South Laurel won one.

.

My guess is 57 years ago when Hazard won it all in 1955.

but not 12-16.

Historically the 14th is the weakest region in Kentucky. Since 1995 the 14th region has only won 4 Sweet 16 games. Even the 13th, the second worst region in the state has won twice as many games (8) as the 14th the past 17 years.

I disagree with Rojas about the mountains this year. Hazard, Knott, Johnson Central, and Harlan Co are good teams this year. When Johnson gets to play for Perry Central then they could be a top 5-10 team in the state. North Laurel will be very good also when the Allen kid returns.
#20
From what I saw this summer, I think Hazard, Johnson Central and Harlan County could at least be top 25 teams. Several others could also get there but aren't playing that well right now.
Harlan County made the AAU quarterfinals and played Henry Clay pretty tough.
#21
paintsville won one in the 90's south laurel in 2005 not 2007, and shelby valley in 2010. the 15 region looks to be the best in recent times.
#22
I think he meant South won the 13th Region in 2007

I think the South Laurel team in 2007 was the last 13th region team to win a Sweet 16 game.

There are some "good" teams for around the mountains for sure. But none of these teams can compete with top teams like Trinity. I wish that wasnt the case, but facts are facts. PCC can recruit all they want around here, its not like recruiting in the Louisville/Indiana area. North Laurel will be better with Allen, but not remotely close to very good. lol. (Not saying that PCC or Trinity recruit:eyeroll: just comparing the perception of both schools.)

The Bears don't want no part of Trinity.
#26
I'm not saying Harlan County could play with Trinity but I think the game would be respectable.. 75-56 type score. HC along with Clay and maybe North Laurel with a healthy Allen has the guard play that can handle the full court pressure that Corbin simply can't.

Don't get to carried away now.

Uhm. These regions may not beat the more dominate regions on a yearly basis but i can promise you two teams outta the 12th for sure in Pulaski/SW could put up a MUCH better fight than what Corbin did.

SW put on a very impressive showing last year in the state tourney. Pulaski lost to Scott by a small margin @ Scott Co. this year.

Just saying.

I watched that one on the internet. It was a 19 or 20 point game until the last 2 or 3 minutes.
