Brandon May signs with Pikeville College
PIKEVILLE, Ky. â Pikeville College head basketball coach Kelly Wells believes in the players of Eastern Kentucky, and feels they need a shot to play on the collegiate level. So far, heâs two-for-two.
On Tuesday afternoon, Wells signed Sheldon Clark senior Brandon May to a scholarship agreement to continue his educational opportunities and athletic career at Pikeville College.
âIâve said from Day One we want the focus to be on the athletes from the mountains as much as possible, and I meant it,â said Wells, who landed 15th Region Player of the Year Brad Lowe last week. âWe want to get Brandon on board and give him a chance to fulfill his dream of playing college basketball.â
May, a 6-3 swingman, averaged 19 points and 11 rebounds for the Cardinals last year. In addition, he tossed out three assists and picked up two steals per game for the 10-16 Cards.
âI see all kinds of potential in him,â said J.R. Hammond, his coach at Sheldon Clark. âBut what makes him stand out from the rest is his desire to work and get better.â
As a junior, May also averaged a double-double, tossing in 18 points and pulling down 10 rebounds for the Cards.
